Free Music Notes for BarrettFree Music Review: No brainer-- complete brilliance. Hit: 5 Stars
not to mention, by and large quite accessible, definitely much more so than "Madcap.." to my ears. Almost all my favorite Barrett songs are on this album: Love Song, Waving, Dominoes, Wined, and It's Obvious all put me in a strange and painfully blissful state. There's clearly the pervading dreamy, nostalgic (and melancholic) feel, but joy and utter carefree abandon too. Who else could make "Waving my arms in the air..." sound like such an alluring idea, or a song titled "Dominoes" such an enigmatic, spine-tingling affair?
Free Music Review: Esencia Pink floydiana Hit: 5 Stars
Free Music Review: man is he gone Hit: 5 Stars
from the slanky slow white boy blues intro to the jungle noise outro, this album is a must have for those strung out late night/early morning chillout sessions. Syd is so far gone at this point that it never really comes quite together, (except for Giggolo Aunt which jives in full force togetherness) but Dominoes is a sheer hauntfest, and when he sings "Our Minds Shot Together" it carries a weight I can't explain
Free Music Review: The Madcap's Sad End Hit: 5 Stars
Syd Barrett... not many know of him, but the ones who do will never forget his contribution to music. The mad genius's final complete studio album features some great songs and outstanding guitar work. Though Roger Barrett is still alive and well, Syd, has died and gone to a better place. Let us never forget his genius, and the band he made, Pink Floyd.
Free Music Review: The second volume... Hit: 5 Stars
This album is, for the most part comprised of recordings (in most cases, demos with overdubs) made during "The Madcap Laughs" sessions. Most of the ideas carry over from that album, but seem a little more polished and have a slightly different feel. Nonetheless the songs are all good and this album won't disappoint any "Madcap" owners.
