Free Music Notes for OpelFree Music Review: There is no life after Pink Floyd Hit: 2 Stars
This is like a psychodelic Barney sing-a-long. I give it 2 start just because I find it amazing that Syd (bless his acidic little mind) can actually rhyme enough word to make a song (Word Song).
Free Music Review: Incomplete songs add nothing worthy to Barrett's catalogue Hit: 1 Stars
Like Time of No Reply, a fine collection of unreleased material from fellow troubled, British folkie, Nick Drake compiled by Island Records in 1986, Capital's 1988 Syd Barrett offering, Opel, represents a record company' realization that a largely ignored artist, signed years earlier, had slowly become a mysterious, cult legend who had gathered a devout following feverishly demanding new material. Opel is a collection of wooly outtakes from the onetime Pink Floyd frontman's two much-admired solo works, 1970's the Madcap Laughs and Barrett. Unfortunately those albums provided little unused material ready for release. Opel is simply a collection of abandoned songs and pitifully underdeveloped versions of a few released tracks. The tracks, all of which feature only Barrett on acoustic guitar, are all mere sketches. Underproduction may have worked well for the eccentric songwriter in many instances but utter incompleteness in another matter. It makes Opel a tedious, frustrating listen that adds nothing noteworthy to the Barrett mythos. Capital, unlike Island, had nothing new to offer the acolytes of their roster's cult legend.
Free Music Review: Opel........Syd Barrett Hit: 1 Stars
I wanted to like this but I didn't. It seems to be out-takes of songs that weren't good enough for Floyd or his other albums. One for the hardcore Floyd fans perhaps? Guess I don't qualify!
Free Music Review: Syd Barrett Over Rated Hit: 1 Stars
I will be polite and refrain from saying what my true opinion is of this CD and Syd Barrett.
