Free Music Notes for Dear Science

Free Music Review: Top 5 album of 2008...
Hit: 5 Stars

Started listening to TVOTR around the release of 'Return to Cookie Mountain' and haven't stopped since. Most of the tracks on this album found their way to the internet before the official release date, So I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting into by the time it arrived at my doorstep. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the sound of the album when I finally got to listen to it cover to cover. While it was nice to hear the tracks on the web first, the effort the band put into this album and the order of the tracks really makes it worth the purchase.

Definitely in my top 5 albums list for 2008 and possibly in my top 20 of all time, I guess time will tell.

Free Music Review: Wow!
Hit: 5 Stars

TVOTR is BY FAR the best music discovery I've made in years, and Dear Science, simply put, is a musical master piece. The last time I was so deliriously in love with an album, was OK Computer...
This is the kind of music that gives you goose bumps, makes you want to move and shakes you to your core all at the same time. Their sound is so original and refreshing, the lyrics deep and meaningful, and the vocals charismatic and haunting. This is the kind of album you'll keep coming back to again and again, like the great classic. Definitely going on my 'Essentials' list.

Free Music Review: Make Lover's Day a Global Holiday
Hit: 5 Stars

I thought that "Wolf Like Me" on TVOTR's previous CD, "Return to Cookie Mountain," was a triumphal anthem...but "Lover's Day," the culminating cut on their current CD, "Dear Science," is a masterpiece of Dionysian love revelry. Ecstatic marching song for anyone with sparks still in the heart. One of the best songs I've heard in several years. I saw TVOTR recently on "The Colbert Report" and they rocked out live. Watch this group...they have not yet reached their heights, and it will be a wondrous ride. They deserve the "Rolling Stone" accolade for best CD of 2008.

Free Music Review: TV on the Radio Achieve Their Potential!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is album is phenomenal. Some of the most fully realized and thoughtful rock being made today. There are comparisons to be made to Radiohead (the sense of drama, the epic scope, the politics), but where Radiohead's last album (In Rainbows) seemed an undifferentiated mass that failed to leave an impression on me, I just can't stop listening to Dear Science, and each song stands alone (some are, of course, better than others). Plus, how many rock bands out there are quoting, in fact expanding upon, a Rumi poem ("Love Dog")? Extraordinary.

Free Music Review: Unreal
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm only reviewing this because I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that this album only averages 3.5 stars. That is an absolute atrocity. The last few years have seen a huge growth in electronic/indie/pop bands - this is the absolute best album of that genre, and it blows everything else away. In fact, with this album, they basically create an entirely new sound. And it is awesome. I'm not going to describe the songs since everyone else has already done that. I'm just here to tell you how money these guys are.
