Free Music Notes for Dear ScienceFree Music Review: Thoroughly enjoyable Hit: 4 Stars
TVOTR is a relative new comer to my music library. I missed them the first time around, and actually bought this album before Return to Cookie Mountain. Both albums are fantastic if different, but if you're also new to TVOTR, I'd suggest getting the albums in chronological order.
How to describe DEAR SCIENCE? It's not easy. Post millennium Indy with 80s influence on pop steroids is about as close as I can get. Filled with energy, rhythm, and tracks laced with an electronic vibe, it becomes wickedly addicting on repeated listening.
I'd recommend this to music fans that wouldn't necessarily describe themselves as Indy fanatics, but who enjoy music that's outside mainstream. That's not to say that TVOTR rests somewhere in the hazy middle between Indy and mainstream pop, only that they're not your typical Indy offering and will also appeal to those who like electronica or even the Cure. Fantastic collection, and easy to reccomend. Give it a chance, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Free Music Review: Science and progress Hit: 4 Stars
A little less experimental-sounding than "Cookie Mountain," "Dear Science" finds TV on the Radio showing more of their influences and adding some new retro-pop style. Good? It's some of the best stuff out there this year.
I miss the focus on creative, percussive rhythms that dominated "Cookie Mountain," but the sound on "Dear Science" is deeper and more nuanced. The rhythms are still there, but sonically the band has expanded. There's a lot more going on here.
So perhaps the band sounds less unique (though still unmistakable), but they also sound like a better band.
Those who just want more "Cookie Mountain" will be disappointed. But those who want more TV on the Radio, with the powerful vocals, the great rhythms, the obtuse but fascinating lyrics, and the ENERGY, and who are open to newly added sonic flavors and improved song-craft will find a keeper in "Dear Science."
Free Music Review: Not as good as Return to Cookie Mountain, but worth getting Hit: 4 Stars
Having listened to Return to Cookie Mountain several times a day for over a year, I was eagerly anticipating some new material from TVOTR. Return to Cookie Mountain is one of my all-time favorites, so I had really high expectations for Dear Science. When I first listened to it, I was sorely disappointed. Unlike Return to Cookie Mountain, Dear Science contained some trackes I actually disliked (a lot). I decided to give it a chance and realized it's a 'grower'... the more I listen to it, the more I like it. The last four tracks are particularly strong. I think a lot of the reviews of this album (in newspapers/magazines) are overly generous, but it is by no means a waste of money. In fact, if you are not a TVOTR fan, this album will probably appeal to you more than their others. I think it will have a more universal appeal.
Free Music Review: All about the Science after a few test trials! Hit: 4 Stars
This album took two listens to really get into which usually is not the case with TOTR's albums. I realize, however, that they are an ever-changing and evolving band. With this, I had to focus to pick up the catchy elements that really attracts me to this band, and of course, I found it! There's a lot going on with this new album and that's what makes it good. I might go as far to conclude that I'm enjoying this album more than I did "Return to Cookie Mountain." The complexities of the sound is not unfamiliar, but the tone of the album is out there. I recommend this album and I recommend if you don't groove with it on the first listen...take a minute to listen again.

Free Music Review: 4 stars for creativity Hit: 4 Stars
I am a fan of all sorts of music and noticed that TV On The Radio was showing up everywhere on end of year review lists. So of course I had to jump on the bandwagon and see what the hype was about. First of all the cd was had a very new and fresh sound to it, there was a fusion of several types of music. The bad thing was that it seemed like each song had too much going on. Dear Science was not my cup of tea and I most likely not listen to it again, however I applaud TOTR for giving us something diffrent and introducing a new sound.
Now for my pick for breakout band...1. Airborne Toxic Event and 2 Vampire Weekend.
