Free Music Notes for Dear ScienceFree Music Review: Very experimental, flashy in its brilliance Hit: 4 Stars
The CD swerves all over the music landscape from the Echo & Bunnymen sounding 'Halfway Home', to the early Bowie sounds of 'Crying'and 'Stork & Owl' to the awful 'Dancing Choose' (Chili Peppers?)and back around to White stripy 'Golden Age' the last three Adebimpe compositions are some of my favorites, especially 'DLZ' which is excellent. TV on the Radio comes off as very much a musical collective more than a band that is exploring or building on a sound. While that can be frustrating it is also very challenging and some of the notes thrown skyward by Adebimpe & Co. turn into gems.
Free Music Review: Great Album Hit: 4 Stars
I've listened to TVOTR for a long time and was wary about this album, but bought it anyway. The songs that do stand out more than make up for the few tracks that lag a bit. This a different side for the band, so maybe that's why longtime fans are having a hard time digesting it, but one thing is for sure, TVOTR is not stagnant. The choice of using strings was a good move in my opinion and the songs that do feature them happen to be some of my favorites.
Free Music Review: I'm Scared to Death of Living a Life That Isn't Worth Dying For... Hit: 4 Stars
"Dear Science" is to "Return To Cookie Mountain" as Kate Bush's, "Hounds of Love" is to "The Dreaming." If that comparison is lost on you, then go back to rock school because you're an uneducated novice...
Up there with "Dig!!! Larazus Dig!!!" and "The Seldom Seen Kid" for record of the year.
Glorious!!!
Free Music Review: good Hit: 4 Stars
An album without vocal melodies is hardly an album now, isn't it? As far as pop music goes I mean. Luckily this album has LOTS of vocal melodies, and enjoyable ones at that. So that's enough for me to recommend you give this album a purchase.
Free Music Review: Engrossing ephemera Hit: 4 Stars
Finely produced but slightly over-thought at points, this is nonetheless deserved if not for its complete lofty rating of indie prowess, as a worthy chronicle for one of our only evolutionary-minded spotlights.
