Free Music Notes for Taboo (2003 Original Broadway Cast)Free Music Review: Karma at the Tony's ? Hit: 5 Stars
Hi I saw the show and along with the rest of the FULL house was on my feet after nearly every song. If there was a flaw it was in the book and there homophobic critics. Hopefully the brilliance of the Score will give Boy the Karma he everso deserves with a TONY win -just being nominated it truly enough for me to prove that the Tony members were paying attention- as well as Euan and Raul also being nominated for their work in the play is icing on the cake.I dare you to sit through Raul's rendition of "Petrified" without a tear If you want to hear what a true 21st Century Play/score should be headed this is the best place to start. an amazing piece of work R-

TABOO was an amazing show that got an unfair bum-rap because the press wanted to rag on Rosie O'Donnell for (god forbid) trying to branch out into something else. But ask anyone that saw the show and they will tell you that it was absolutley amazing and that it was a wonderful piece of theater that truly touched your heart. The Cast of the show was an amazingly talented bunch of artists and Boy George's score is perfectly well rounded with fun up tempo numbers and heart wrenching ballads. I suggest you forget everything negative you have heard about this show (because most of it was all wrong and completley unfair) and buy this album and give it a listen. You won't be dissapointed, I promise.
Free Music Review: Everything Taboo Hit: 5 Stars
When I was in New York last December I passed the theater where Taboo was playing and I was like, I really don't want to see this. So instead I saw Little shop of Horrors. Boy and I kicking myself now. What a GREAT score. It has some of the most moving music I have ever heard. "Talk Amongst Yourselves" is so beautiful and I love Liz McCartney ever since Dance of the Vampires. "Love Is A Question Mark" and "Stranger In This World." Another great song is "I'll Have You All." So funny so true so... well never mind. Even for those of you that do not like musicals this show doesn't have your typical Broadway sound. You MUST buy this CD. I said so.
Free Music Review: Great Pop CD ! Hit: 5 Stars
Despite this being a theatrical score, "Taboo" doubles as a terrific pop cd, filled with many great melodies & messages. Best tracks include:
Stranger In This World
Everything Taboo [great dance song!]
Talk Amongst Yourselves
Out Of Fashion [the voices blend beautifully together]
Il Adore [gut-wrenching song]
It's really too bad the show didn't hang around a bit longer ... maybe it was just ill-timed. I also wish the U.S. version had contained "Touched By The Hand Of Cool", but it was dropped for some reason.
Thanks Rosie for introducing this music to us!
Free Music Review: what a great score! Hit: 5 Stars
I can't believe that the show closed. After hearing the score I find it even harder to believe. Some of the best tunes heard on Broadway EVER! Every song is a gem. I am also glad that the Tony committee saw fit to honor this work. If you didn't see the show before it closed definitely give this CD a listen. If you were fortunate enough to see Taboo before it closed this CD is a must have. A word of warning..every time you listen to it you will wish you could see Taboo one more time. Two words to Rosie....thank you
