Free Music Review: magical, dark, original a masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

to tell u the truth when i bought laughing stock it took me sometime to understand why this album is a masterpiece.
looking back ,talk talk was a synth pop band duran duran style with good enough songs , but their change in direction came in colour of spring another masterpiece i mean they took milestones from ,its my life, their departure in sound was 360 change of sound and direction.
then spirit of eden came, another departure in sound from colour of spring another truly masterpiece.
mark hollis created music a mix of free jazz on acid, and rock
so dark that is beautiful probably one of the best albums all time

Free Music Review: Talk Talk's final....and best
Hit: 5 Stars

By the time this album appeared in 1991, their old record company, radio, and the pop music press had abandoned Talk Talk. Shame. Because they continued to grow as a band. Along with 1988's "Spirit of Eden", "Laughing Stock" is Talk Talk's best work. It's 5 tracks with depth, space, and length. Songs aren't merely songs but jams that are boiled down over and over with overdubs and occasionally layered with a minimal amount of Mark Hollis' aching singing and lyrics.

If you've had even the slightest hesitation of buying this, like I did for years, get it now. You will not be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Laughing Stock
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this on vinyl when it was initially released and it totally changed my interest in music. It's priceless, nothing like it except Spirt of Eden. It was kind of like the first time I listened to John Coltrane, Mahavishu Orchestra and Return to Forever. You knew these guys had a talent that nobody else had. I bought it yesterday on CD as I wore the vinyl out. I'm over 50 and listen to this all the time.. If you are looking for something different, something that will probably change your taste in music, it's not party music. It's music you listen to with headphones or when you are alone and want to veg out.

Free Music Review: This is the last of great "commercial art"
Hit: 5 Stars

Now that the majority of radio stations have been widdled down to four major corporations (will this make the cenosrs? as if we all do not already know?) you will not see the type of record development that allows this kind of creativity. Radiohead? test-proven at best. The sparse improv pop found on this cd may have started a new generation of music prior to the redundant grunge that followed, but three minute pop songs are easy fodder.

This is a cd of spares yet complex arrangments accented by Mark Hollis' intorspective voice. It is worth the thrid listen to get the "pop" jazz presented here.

Free Music Review: Why?
Hit: 5 Stars

is this album so beautiful? Why cant there be more bands like this? I cant answer those questions my friend maybe the dudes in Talk Talk could tell you. They seemed to just get better and better until they got so damn good they exploded and released a last gem called laughing stock upon their demise. It may seem boring to the musically and psychologically retarded but to me its one of those albums thats just on a level of its own. I want to be buried with this album!! so buy it already pleasee I dont go giving out five stars all willy nilly like!
