Free Music Review: Up There
Hit: 5 Stars

Everyone knows Astral Weeks. And Eno's recording Another Green World regularly features on 'greatest albums ever' lists. Also Loveless is recognised as a classic. But Laughing Stock remains unknown, not so much under-rated as unrated, even though it's up there with these other masterpieces. Similarities -
*) it is a trip - the songs gel together to form a mood-piece that transports the listener.
*) the inspired musicians follow their own muse rather than sticking to the customary rock forms.
*) it succeeds wonderfully.

Free Music Review: Transcendental. Sacred. Unbearably beautiful.
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is simply holy. Hauntingly passionate. Extremely beautiful, graceful, painful, sensual. I just lay on my bed late at night and blast it and am taken far, far away. The music is eerie at times, carefree elsewhere. Whoever wrote these songs and created this CD is channeling the essence of the universe. Definitely the closest thing I can think of to "religious" -- at least on a CD. Mark Holis' voice is an instrument of its own, thin, then rich, then hollow, then majestic, then feeble. Thank you TALK TALK.

Free Music Review: Their Apex
Hit: 5 Stars

LAUGHING STOCK, Talk Talk's last release, is the jewel of their collection. Their metamorphisis from a run of the mill Synth-Pop outfit to a wholley original sound, which still sounds ahead of their time, was amazing. Using a wide pallete of sounds and especially silences, unique instrumentation and moods, Talk Talk had created a record of rare beauty. I doubt if many people have heard this record, but I'm sure that those that have, hold it in high regard.

Free Music Review: ravishing and riveting
Hit: 5 Stars

How did you find out about this incredible album? So few have heard of it. Buy it immediately before it goes out of print. (By the way, if you think Talk Talk still make synth-pop music like their 80's hit "It's My Life", just think how much you've grown up in the last 10 years.) Cross Tricky with Joni Mitchell with Traffic with the Cocteau Twins and then forget about categories and fall in love. A desert-island disc; a must-have. Enjoy!

Free Music Review: The Perfect Album
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is worth the price just to hear the drumming alone, add to that the delicate wisps of Mark Hollis' vocals and the distinctive guitar lines, and you have yourself a major masterpiece. This album and Spirit of Eden are two of my fave albums of all-time. Other faves include "Secrets of the Beehive" by David Sylvian and "Jordan:The Comeback" by Prefab Sprout.
