Free Music Notes for Spirit of EdenFree Music Review: Truly Spiritual Hit: 5 Stars
I was introduced to this album back in 88 as a 16 year old at my friends house next door. His brother was a massive Talk Talk fan and we would just chill in the sitting room taking in this awesome music for hours and days. I got a copy of it and my brother and I would have this bedtime routine of putting on the first track "The Rainbow" while we lay in our bunk beds in the dark, waiting for that incredible Harmonica piece to start (big up Mark Feltham!). It's hard to describe what this music does to you when you open to it but the effect feels as close to spritual as I'm likely to get.
Free Music Review: Let's talk Hit: 5 Stars
What comes from the origin of mankind, is still around today and is a common denominator for all nations? Music Music is about emotions and it could be of various nature. That is why we have so many genres of music to fit all our different emotions. Some touches us more than others. This one is essentially about slow tempo and melancholy. Mark Hollis is my second favorite vocalist. He is like an angel singing from far away. How beautiful are the songs "I believe in you" and "Desire" on this album. Spiritual music.
Free Music Review: Take a leap of faith: buy it Hit: 5 Stars
If you only know this band from their lightweight if enjoyable hits of the early 1980s, or if you don't know them at all: buy it. Trust me, you will not regret it. The word "beautiful" has one out of fashion indescribing music, but it's the only word that fits these six amazing tracks. Three out of six can move me to tears with their amazing beauty. And before you think it's all soft, wimpy stuff, Mark Hollis occasionally lets rip with a guitar that is far more deadly than any over-distorted Heavy Metal nonsense.Just buy it.
Free Music Review: All time top 10 Hit: 5 Stars
I have read through multimple reviews and I dont really think I could add much that hasn't already been put out there. I was pointed to Spirit of Eden as my first encounter with Talk Talk back in 89 and it hit me like few pieces of music have before or since. It truly does defy classification and must be heard to be understood and appreciated. If you are looking for something emotional, introspective and intense...ready your ears and run don't walk to get this outing!
On my all time top 10 desert island list
Free Music Review: Proof of intelligent life forms. Hit: 5 Stars
If you're reading this, you probably just realized the tranformation of Talk Talk from synth-pop to mature and challenging work. This album belongs to the second batch.Spirit of Eden, stemming from their previous hybrid album 'Colour of Spring', is raw and mysterious like dark, rich soil. It's distant from signs of modern civilization. It doesn't move you with a rythm--the earth has no rythm you could hum with, but a mass you hold on to.
