Of course you know all these songs, and of course there are many more great cuts deeper on the original albums, but for a single-disc review of a band with over 10 years' worth of releases, this 18-track set is hard to beat. The group went through several striking stylistic changes over its lifetime, but that variation actually helps this disc hold together as an album as well as a set of songs.
This would make a great introduction for a younger fan of the current crop of danceable art rock bands (Of Montreal, The Killers, Decemberists) or a casual fan looking to supplant an old LP collection.

well, before getting this cd, i had only heard talking heads at a club where a talking heads cover band played. they were pretty good, and i remembered hearing "once in a lifetime" sometime before. so not knowing much about them, i picked up this cd. now i want more talking heads. not only did i find that "once in a lifetime" was great, but "this must be the place (naive melody)" is such a beautiful song to me for some reason. hah. well, me being only the casual fan, liked this cd, but it also made me want to get more talking heads stuff, so yeah i like this cd a lotFree Music Review: For one song only

I have no idea how good the songs are on here, however, I purchased this whole darned thing because I wanted "Burning Down the House" as it was the song in the bar scene of "The Banger Sisters" and really turned me on. For this one song, I chose to purchase the whole disc. Oh well, sorry here, love this song. Watch the movie, you'll see the bar scene with GOldie Hawn and Susan Surandon and when they're in the bar dancing, I guarantee, you will buy the whole disc just for that one song.Free Music Review: Sure to be a great cd!

I've always liked this band ever since the video of "Burning Down the House" came out on MTV. I have the Vaseline in the Sand set, but it's a little too much to listen to in one sitting for me....this looks like a definitive 1-disk set. All of the best of Talking Heads, good cd!!! I hadn't heard some of the songs and love them better than the ones I had heard. Heaven is a great song and so is Road to Nowhere.
