Free Music Review: MUST OWN!
Hit: 5 Stars

They were one of the truly great bands of the 70/80s. The first disc in this set is the Heads in the 70s and the second disc is the band in the 80s. Both cds are amazing performances. Their sound evolves over time and having seen them live at Red Rocks,CO for the Speaking in Tongues tour later in the 80s - I can see where and how the band evolved. The mark of a truly great band is to find new presentation, new meaning, new nuance in all their songs in a live setting. The Heads had it, and you will be sorry if you don't purchase this disc. The Talking Heads were a gift, like the Police and Bob Marley, the Heads made the 70s/80s fun with amazing muscianship and introspective lyrics. "This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, this ain't no fooling around."

Free Music Review: T. Heads on fire!
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow I can't remember how long I have waited for this to be released on CD but it was well worth the wait.

Disc 1 is their early stuff and it reveals an up and coming band to be reckoned with.

Disc 2 is a full blown jam fest with Adrian Belew on fire. Both discs are incredible and a true snapshot of a very talented band who weren't afraid to evolve and push the envelope of pop/rock music.

Rhino did an awesome job of filling out both discs with extra tracks that weren't on the original albums. Also the packaging is great, with reviews and lots of pics.

If you love Talking Heads this is a must have. For those on the fence this will change your mind.

5 stars for this one!

Free Music Review: Their best live set
Hit: 5 Stars

When this was released on double LP twenty years ago, it offered an incredible overview of the Talkinh Heads live. Indeed it covers the early years up to the Remain in Light-era big band. Musically it is much more interesting that the Stop Making Sense soundtrack. The sound recording is maybe not as nice and Byrne's singing is not as polished. The playing is however much more strong. However the set represented is overall much stronger and it is also quite evident that the Remain In Light band was the best line-up simply. Songs such as The Great Curve are simly great and these versions are actually the definitive ones in my opinion. Rhino has again done a superb job by adding may songs to this beautiful CD.

Free Music Review: essentially a yummilicious and entrancing sensorium
Hit: 5 Stars

A great live documentary of the band's first four years of national reknown.
My only complaint is that the 1980-81 material is culled from different concerts, and the overall sound does vary slightly between the three dates. But I think it works anyway.
I love how David's performances are extra-wired compared to the studio version--he's really working out the tension.
The version of "Animals" from 1980 is deliciously lyrical compared to the impetulant brute stomp of the original.
Once Jerry started exploring the synths more and Belew and Worrell got on board, they were really embarking on some trance-inducing music. "Stay Hungry" is here, twice, as evidence.

Free Music Review: Sparkling tunes, and 81 tour songs!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a very good live album by what many consider one of america's great rock and roll art bands.

I know I really bought this due to the 81 tour material... you get to hear some really great material, and the songs THE GREAT CURVE and HOUSES IN MOTION are just candy. I really liked the Remain In Light album a lot, so if you like that record, you will really like this release.. it is really double the value really. Quite impressive sound and song selection.

Can't say enough about it. Also, it is only 15.99 at iTunes. Which is a bargain since it runs about 24 dollars at a store.

Have fun!!
