Free Music Review: Great if you are a Talking Heads junkie
Hit: 5 Stars

I confess to being such a junkie, and so was delighted to find that this was now available on CD. These live recordings are lots of fun. Still very much pre-Stop Making Sense and so it definitely has the sound and "feel" of the Talking Heads of the late 1970's and early 1980's. Even though I have just about everything else of theirs (including Sand in the Vaseline) I am happy that I got these CD's. Fun!
So the five star ranking is predicated on one's being a Talking Heads fan. If you are just passing through, and want just a single live THeads CD, then I think Stop Making Sense might be a better choice.

Free Music Review: Staggering beauty
Hit: 5 Stars

My wife and I have all of the Talking Heads releases (now on CD, but previously on every available format, depending on the era). This CD, like all of the Talking Heads material, shines with a brilliant originality that staggers (yes, it's OK to use this word twice in a review of a Talking Heads release) the mind.

If this is your first experience with the Talking Heads, the next purchase is the DVD "Stop Making Sense". You may never remove it from your DVD player.

If you ever have the chance to see David Byrne perform live, don't miss it. It's a life-altering experience.

Free Music Review: Remarkable
Hit: 5 Stars

As great as Stop Making Sense is, this one is even better. It captures the band before they really hit the big time. The music starts out with the early edgy sound and slowly develops into the full, rhythmic sound that would eventually make them a huge commercial success. There are so many standouts here that you'd basically be reading the tracklist - so read the tracklist.
The different versions of Drugs are both incredible in completely different ways.
I had forgotten just how incredible this set was. Thank you, Rhino, for continuing to blow me away with your updates of classic albums.

Free Music Review: My favorite Heads release finally on CD
Hit: 5 Stars

I've waited and waited and waited for this to come out on CD. They couldnt have done a better job on improving it and making it value for money. When i want to relive the joys of Talking Heads this will be the cd i reach for. All their music is terrific, but they were amazing live. I love the quartet and i love the big band versions. This release is a must have and a must hear. I'm so glad its finally out on CD and Rhino did a magnificent remastering job and added additional treats and resequencing that flushes both discs out to maximum length

Free Music Review: It's About Time!
Hit: 5 Stars

I thought I was the only person out there waiting for this album to be released on CD! I had a vinyl copy and loved it. I guess Sire records didn't want it competing with Stop Making Sense as a live recording by Talking Heads. The 1st disk is even better than I remembered plus it has more tracks than the original. As usual Rhino Records did a great job with the mastering and packaging including telling "nostalgic listeners" the original running order of the album. I can't get enough of the 1979 recording of "Stay Hungry". Great Release!
