Free Music Review: Let's be clear on something here...
Hit: 4 Stars

the Talking Heads never released a bad album. Of course some are better than others (everyone's opinion on this of course varies from person to person) and in my opinion this is not one of their top 5 albums or anything, but it is (as others here have said) highly underrated. I just don't understand all the negative reviews. Every song on this album (except for "Puzzlin' for Evidence and - depending on my mood Papa Legba. Now I know a lotta people think that's one of the better cuts here, but honestly I find the song a bit boring. There are so many gems here..."Hey Now" "Wild Wild Life", "Radio Head", "Dream Operator", "People like Us"...any of these songs are just as good as their earlier more popular songs. "City of Dreams" is one of the best "slow songs" Byrne has ever written. It's just a truly beautiful song. David Byrne is just an impossibly great songwriter. I mean the guy cannot write bad songs at all. Even his worst songs (which are on his solo albums, believe me) are still highly melodic and usually have some element of them that's worth hearing). Anyways, if you are a TRUE Talking Heads fan, you will enjoy this album. That's all there is to it.

Free Music Review: Far too under-rated...
Hit: 4 Stars

I have no idea why this album gets dismissed as "rubbish" by many Talking Heads fans and David Byrne himself. It's not that bad. You've got the hits "Love For Sale" and "Wild Wild Life" which are good songs but there is so much better to be found on here. "Papa Legba" has some neat percussion. "People Like Us" is a good song but it's even better in the movie 'True Stories' (which i recommened you check out) where John Goodman sings it! "Dream Operator" has to be one of the most beautiful songs the Talking Heads have ever written and it's probably my favorite on the album. The only song I never really cared for is "Hey Now". One last thing I have to say is when a band like Radiohead names themselves after one of the songs off this album, it can't be all that bad.

Free Music Review: To clear up any confusion...
Hit: 4 Stars

When the film was released, 2 different "soundtracks" appeared on vinyl record. One was the background score for the film. Very nice. Too bad it is not available on cd.

The second album (the one here on Amazon) was the pop tunes from the film, however they are sung by Talking Heads, not by the actors as in the film. Still very good and it's probably best this way since not all the actors could carry a tune.

Now if they could only release the dvd in widescreen.

Free Music Review: A knew David Byrne was a wierdo....
Hit: 4 Stars

Saying this CD and little creatures were their worst albums? You got to be kidding, this one is 4 1/2 stars and little creatures 4 1/2. This was the CD that got me into Talking Heads after I picked up Speaking In Tongues. So if your a fan of TH, get this one first, little creatures, then SIT. The only way to get 5 stars is picking up Sand in the Vasoline.

Free Music Review: To add to the confusion
Hit: 4 Stars

Actually there were THREE albums that came out.
-The Talking Heads album, True Stories
-Sounds from True Stories, with music from Carl Finch and others.
and finally, the really obscure album
-The actual music from True Stories including Pops Staples singing Papa Legba.

I'd love to get ahold of this if anyone knows how and where.
