Free Music Notes for Tango: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: Tango: The Music Hit: 5 Stars
What can I say but that both my wife and I have seen the movie the sound track comes from at least four times- one of those times at our local community college where it was hosted by Tango aficionados. We loved the motion picture and we definitely loved Lalo Schiffrin's soundtrack. I remember him from the sixties when he scored TV shows like Mission Impossible and Mannix. I suppose he returned to his native Argentina where he created this passionate music for the Spanish director Carlos Saura.
Free Music Review: Great soundtrack with some excellent danceable tunes Hit: 5 Stars
This CD contains both some original compositions as well as re-recordings of Argentine Tango (AT) compositions. Especially these new recordings made me get the CD, since finally there is a modern arrangement of classical tunes, that doesn't simply emphasize the dramatic side of AT tunes. "Corazon de Oro" is one of my favorite recordings of this vals, "Zorro Gris" has a fascinating arrangement with a tuba as bass instrument.
Free Music Review: Danceable and melodious Hit: 5 Stars
This is a superb recording which when played on even the most humble of stereo systems seems to bring the orchestra into the room. The arrangements, with one or two exceptions, are eminently danceable with a clear unambiguous rhythm. Many of the recordings of "standard" tangos are blessed with Lalo Schifrin's genius for melodic interpretation which allows the CD to excel as purely a listening medium as well. This is a tour de force.
Free Music Review: best tango CD Hit: 5 Stars
When you listen to this CD, you will be surprised by the fact that the overall style of the music resembles that of Piazzolla. That's because the composer, Lalo Schifrin, was one of Piazzolla's pianist. Schifrin's style is a bit less dramatic and the overall tone is soft. I think this was done purposely to make tango pieces suitable for the movie. If you are a Piazzolla fan, you will like this CD.
Free Music Review: Seductive music. As pleasing to the soul as to the ear. Hit: 5 Stars
The film of the same name is visually stunning and emotionally captivating, in large part because you "see" this beautiful music being performed and responded to by the characters whose lives we enter. The soundtrack, on its own, is every bit as moving. Absolutely captivating writing and brilliant ensemble playing. We play it a lot and it always move us, body and soul.
