Do I love every track on this CD? No. But I enjoy a vast majority, and therefore, feel it is well worth the investment! Runaround is simplistic in its lyrics, but I find that I cannot listen to it without singing along and tapping my toes. The Taylor I love is missing in Dream Myself Awake, but luckily resurfaces in the fantastic Heaven Knows, which is really where the album starts for me. Stellar covers of Gonna Move and Wherever I Lay My Hat follow. For me, the album is worth the price for these three songs alone. Taylor takes a wrong turn (IMO) on Give Me Tonight. Just to Feel That Way is a decent, totally listenable power ballad. The Maze and Places I Have Been are unoffensive filler. Then Taylor finishes in true Taylor style with his two original tunes, Soul Thing and The Deal, and the remarkable The Right Place. Why 5 stars? Because I can't remember the last time I purchased a CD that I enjoyed so much. A great freshman release!!Free Music Review: A Must Buy!

Taylor's debut cd is everything I expected - and more. Each track has a unique sound which is something I really look for in a cd I spend money on. I don't want every song to sound the same or to deliver the same emotional response. This cd tells an emotional story from "The Runaround" to "The Right Place" using Taylor's voice and harp solos to perfection. Really like the inclusion of "Soul Thing", "The Deal" and "Hell of a Day" (bonus track). These were written by Taylor and showcase just another dynamic to this multi-talented young man. If pressed to pick a favorite I would choose "The Right Place" or "The Deal". However, to be honest my favorites change depending on my mood. That is one of the strong points of this cd for me because you are not showcasing one song. There are several potential #1 singles on this cd. Job well done, Taylor. Bravo!!
By the way, I now own it and will give as a gift. That is how confident I am in the music.

Most of the songs on this CD are about falling in and out of love, and that is okay with me. I just hope Taylor will include more of his personal experiences in his music in the future though. Having said that, I think this is a very good debut. The drum beat and the trumpet playing sound really good on this first track The Runaround. It is a very fun track to start off the CD. Soul Thing is another fun uplifting track here. The Right Place is another highlight here. This track shows Taylor's romantic soulful side. The piano playing on this track is beautiful. Dream Myself Awake is another nice track. The electric guitar playing gives this song a nice pop rock edge. Give Me Tonight is a groovy sounding track. This is a good song to play at parties and dance to. Places I've Been is a very touching song about how a special individual can change another person's life. I'm so glad finally real music is back on the scene, and all thanks to our American Idol 2006 Mr. Taylor Hicks..I loved his music from the first time I purchased Under the Radar almost a year ago and he didn't disappoint with this one..My favorite changes every week but if I had to pick, it would be "Runaround" because he has been performing it on tv and it is so addicting..My next choice is "Just to Feel that Way" ((((This freaking song belongs on a love award winning soundtrack, it is that good))))He is bringing back music with meaning and soul that will make tears flow and he shows that you don't have to be out there showing any skin to sell great work and his talent shines through..THIS CD HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY.....Thanks Soul Man, you are a legend in the making and I'm so glad to be apart of your Soul Patrol..You have definitely made us proud ;) THIS IS WHY AMERICA VOTED FOR HIM AND HE DESERVED TO WIN......Free Music Review: Taylor Hicks, You're goin' to be a STAR!

I absolutely love this cd! I love every song. "Runaround" is so fun to sing and dance to. "Dream Myself Awake" is awesome, catchy, easy to sing along with right away, loved it. Played those two over and over before I even listened to the others. "The Right Place" is great, soulful, it really grabs you and pulls you into the mood. I love that the songs that he wrote, "The Deal" and "Soul Thing" are on here. I had his previous cd with those songs and they are really good. I don't think there is a song I didn't like. He is fresh, soulful & talented. We need some good music today. Fun, real and soulful music. I am so happy for him. I know it is just going to get better and better. I think he is going the distance. He is not the run-of-the-mill performer from the same old mold. There are so many of those and some of the music today just seems so empty. It's time for real music again and I think Taylor is great! I can't get enough!
