Free Music Review: absolutely amazing album
Hit: 5 Stars

I don't know why I didn't write this review when I first bought the album back in November. Fearless is an absolutely amazing album that you really won't regret buying.

Fearless - as she says in the podcast accompanying a purchase of this song as a single on iTunes, it's about a perfect first date and how no matter how much we've been hurt by love we always jump back in, completely fearlessly. It's a song pumped full of optimism.

Fifteen - a trip down memory lane. Taylor recounts meeting her best friend since freshman year, the first day of high school, and falling in and out of love. It's a soul-touching song and I'm amazed it wasn't released as a single. It's amazing! At an awards ceremony she sang it with her friend Miley Cyrus.

Love Story - there's good reason it was so amazingly popular for so long (it's still on the bestselling tracks on Rhapsody after all this time and on the bestselling country tracks on iTunes). Love Story is about forbidden love and following your heart. The music video is incredible. She wrote this song by herself, which shows she has some amazing talent!

Hey Stephen - written for a guy she likes from the band Love n Theft. I enjoyed it though I wouldn't say it's my ultimate favorite.

White Horse - a sad, quieter ballad about a breakup; the first song on Fearless with any negativity, about how fairytales don't come true. It's another tribute to how Taylor can transform heartbreak into a gorgeous ballad. Proof of its success? It was featured on Grey's Anatomy and was turned into a great music video.

You Belong With Me - I suppose you could call this one White Horse's opposite. Taylor wrote this insanely popular hit by herself as well. It's upbeat. The basic storyline is that Taylor's crush - her best friend - is with a mean girl who only drags her boyfriend down. Watch the music video. It has a happy ending - and features Lucas Till. :)

Breathe - about how Taylor broke up with a friend who only hurt her, even though she couldn't breathe without her. It's cowritten with Colbie Caillat and is a nice song overall.

Tell Me Why - at 3 minutes and 20 seconds, it's the shortest song on the album but also the most quickly-paced. Her vocals in this song are absolutely amazing. It's not apparent whether the song was inspired by an actual situation. It's harsh and to-the-point. Difficult to comprehend until you hear the actual music. I was going to write out a sample of music, but seeing it written is a far cry from hearing it yourself.

You're Not Sorry - this song immediately made iTunes's top 10 list once it was released as a single. Originally, it was going to be "You Don't Have to Call", but this version is far better in my opinion. It's about giving someone you're with countless chances, but they fail every time with the lame excuse "I'm sorry" when you know they're not.

The Way I Loved You - it's addictive. A song you actually WANT to get stuck in your head. Swift sings of past love vs. a new one - the past one hurt so much but she was "so in love that I acted insane", while the new one is more serene but "my heart's not breaking 'cause I'm not feeling anything at all". Excellent instrumentals. Taylor demonstrates her vocal ability extremely well in this song, too.

Forever & Always - she wrote this after Joe Jonas dumped her over a 27-second phone call. (And honestly, I am sick of people saying "Oh she has to get over it" when they see her sing it at her Fearless 2009 Tour. Really, it was part of her album, so even though she's over it, she's going to sing it at her concert - it's a great song!) Few songs make me cry but this one succeeded. As in White Horse, Taylor was able to turn her heartbreak into a beautiful song.

The Best Day - it's all about her family! :) It's slower, gentler, and quieter, and her voice, while lowering in volume, loses none of its strenght or power.

Change - it's full of energy and fills any listener with a feeling of power and hope. It was an excellent idea to release as Fearless's first single.

Overall, the album was simply amazing and I didn't regret buying it.

Free Music Review: Awesome 2nd Album!
Hit: 5 Stars

This has quickly become one of my favorite albums! Taylor Swift is a gifted singer and songwriter. Sure, the themes are repetitive and the lyrics aren't always particularly deep, but they are extremely honest and listening to Taylor's songs gives you the impression that you're reading her journal. And while her voice isn't as powerful as other singers, her personality shines through and she captures the appropriate emotions for every song that she sings. Most importantly, all of her songs are solid and I can easily listen to every song on here, and the majority are incredibly catchy! I also appreciate that her songs are perfectly appropriate for any age group and she sings about topics that are relevant to your average teenager, namely boys.

My review on her songs:

Fearless - 4/5 - This is a solid song where Taylor sings about the best first date she's never had.

Fifteen - 2.5/5 - This song is definitely slow and probably my least favorite on the album, but I do appreciate the lyrics and the advice to other young girls. This shows a lot of maturity on her part.

Love Story - 4.5/5 - Great song where Taylor casts herself as Juliet, but she and Romeo end up married instead of dead! The lyrics are certainly corny, but it's also got a great melody and is overall an enjoyable song.

Hey Stephen - 5/5 - One of the best songs on this album. Her voice is a bit more raw and real on this one and that, along with the humming and laughter throughout the song, make it feel very conversational. This song is very catchy and you'll certainly find yourself singing along.

White Horse - 4/5 - Another fairy tale reference, but here the heroine realizes that there isn't a prince on a white horse coming to rescue her. This song is bittersweet and her emotion comes across clearly.

You Belong With Me - 3.5/5 - This is a cute song about being in love with your best friend and knowing your better suited for him than the girl he's currently with. Her voice is convincing here although it's not a favorite for me.

Breathe - 2/5 - This is my least favorite song on this album. I definitely prefer her more lively songs, but it's still sung well and will resonate with listeners.

Tell Me Why - 5/5 - This is my favorite song on the album. It's about being treated poorly and finally standing up to the other person. The chorus is full of energy. I love it!

You're Not Sorry - 4/5 - Another song in a string of songs about bad relationships. This one is slower, but I really enjoy it. Vocally, it's not her strongest though.

The Way I Loved You - 3.5/5 - This is a solid song and shows a bit of maturity. It's about finding the perfect man, but being dissatisfied because the relationship lacks the passion of her old relationship. It builds, becoming increasingly more aggressive and powerful. Good song!

Forever & Always - 4.5/5 - This is another favorite, about the demise of a relationship. Musically, vocally, and lyrically, it's a lot of fun to listen to.

The Best Day - 5/5 - This is my other favorite from this album. I had to listen to it a few times before it really grew on me. This is a departure from any other songs from Taylor because here, she's singing about her family. I love this song few teenagers are able to express this level of appreciation and love for this families. Her voice is very sweet and innocent on this song. It's a true gem!

Change - 4/5 - This is an interesting song as it seems to have a somewhat political message about not giving up when faced with tough opponents. It was used for the Olympic soundtrack. It's a good song musically, but the theme doesn't really fit in with what Taylor does best which is singing about her life. Still a good song.

As I've already said, this is a great album, completely appropriate for the entire family, and very easy to listen to. Everything I want in my music!

Free Music Review: Absolutely Flawless.
Hit: 5 Stars

Taylor Swift has been one of my favorite artists since her debut with "Tim McGraw," but she just keeps getting better! She's really come into her own in this album as she approaches life not just as a teenager but as a young adult. This is an excerpt of a bulletin that Taylor posted on myspace the night before the cd release & i think it really perfectly sums up her album:

"I've been wanting you to hear these new songs since the very moment of their creation. Every single song has a face attached. They're all about people. Some even mention names. But most importantly, these songs tell my stories.

These songs tell the story of my freshmen year of high school, and the day I met Abigail. They tell the story of the guy who apologized over and over again without ever meaning it. The story about saying goodbye to someone when you don't want to, because you can't breathe without them. The story of the boy who never realized he was with the wrong girl, and that the right one was right there in front of him. The story of my childhood, and the moment I realized my mom was the best friend I'll ever have. The memories of running and laughing and having the best days with her.

These songs tell stories about fairytale romances, and how sometimes they don't work out the way you dream about when you're a little girl. Because when we're young, we dream about Romeo and Prince Charming-- and we hope he'll ride up on a white horse and rescue us. But sometimes the white horse shows up too late, after the prince has already let you down and left your dreams out in the rain. I never read a fairy tale with that ending. I guess that's the hard part about living in reality.

One song tells the story of the underdogs who spent every day dreaming about the day they'd see things change, and the story of the night things finally.... did. And they sang hallelujah. There's the story of the first date that's so magical, you want to dance around the parking lot in the rain. In your best dress. There's the tragic story of the boy who walked away--because he found some other girl to promise forever to. Then there's the love story about how it can all actually work out perfectly and wonderfully. And how love really CAN be everything we dream about. About how someday, we all just might find the one that will kneel to the ground and pull out a ring and say "Marry me, Juliet. You never have to be alone. I love you and that's all I really know."

And maybe that's wishful thinking. But maybe... that's just being fearless.
;)"

Taylor truly is a gift. Both musically and as a young woman who allows you to see the depths of her heart. She's genuine, she's kind, she's raw, she's grounded, & she truly loves and appreciates her fans. I hope that it's something that she holds onto, but I don't see anything like that changing about her. She's real. It's what makes people love her. It's why her songs sell. She writes from her heart and for so many of us her lyrics mean something. We've been there. I'm a youth leader and mentor teenage girls, and Taylor is one of few girls that are in the Hollywood limelight that I would truly want them to emulate. She's beautiful. I wish her MUCH success with this and future albums. She's a star in my eyes. :)

Free Music Review: Catchy Pop/Country album.
Hit: 5 Stars

Taylor Swift's sophomore effort is a perfect album. Taylor is known for her ability to write songs in 20 minutes, but her songs doesn't sound like it. Actually, they're really sensitive and amazingly good. Taylor is often accused of only writing about high school love and that's why some people hate her and I think she's underrated. She shouldn't be compared to young Disney stars who have no talent, because she's really talented and she worked her way to the top. It's true that she's not a Dolly Parton or a Faith Hill, but she doesn't want to be. She's only 20, and she's singing about things that happened to her, but as she grows older, she's gonna be more mature and I'm sure she's gonna put out better and better albums.
In fact there's something for everyone on this album.

Fearless (5/5) At first I wasn't too fond of this song but it really grew on me and now it's one of my favs. For me, this song is about being fearless in life. Not a love song.
Fifteen (5/5) Amazingly nice song about your first day in high school, knowing no one, but finding friends at last. Again, not a love song.
Love Story (5/5) Beautiful song about an idealized Romeo and Juliet kinda forever-lasting love. This song can make you really happy.
Hey Stephen (5/5) The song is about convincing a boy to let her in. I think a lot of girls can relate to this song.
White Horse (5/5) Very sad song about being let down by a boy, who you loved. Again, relatable.
You Belong With Me (5/5) I think this song is about the same story as Terdrops On My Guitar, just from a different angle. I could be wrong though.
Breathe (5/5) Saying goodbye to someone that you used to depend on, and feeling all alone in the world cuz you can't breathe without them. Love song but ANYONE can relate to it, it's not about teenage love.
Tell Me Why (5/5) One of the best songs on the album. Check it out. :)
You're Not Sorry (5/5) Very sad song, amazing.
The Way That I Loved You (4/5) Being with a perfect guy but missing the imperfection of the previous one that you loved so much. Very good lyrics and song.
Forever & Always (5/5) The Joe Jonas song. (Lol, I hate that guy.) Anyway it's about insecurity about a relationship, because you "don't feel welcome anymore".
The Best Day (5/5) Beautiful song about loving your parents and being thankful how they made your childhood happy. Not a love song again.
Change (4/5) Maybe this song doesn't quite fit for the album, it's a pop/rock song actually. Not a love song.

So there are 9 love songs out of 13, I don't think it's that much. Most of the singers sing about relationships. She herself said that it's her favourite topic and I'm perfectly happy with it. So if you wanna listen to songs about the weather or work or whatever, it's not your album. And if you expect Dolly Parton, it's not your album either. Then listen to Dolly Parton, because in 2009 no one will sing those kind of old-fashioned songs.

5/5 for this amazing album.

Free Music Review: This CD is my Bible...
Hit: 5 Stars

When I first heard her song "Tim McGraw" and saw the video, I didn't expect Taylor Swift to become a huge household name. Around that time, there were a few one-hit-wonder artists and I had a slight feeling she would be one. Then I heard "Teardrops On My Guitar" and she instantly stole my heart, and continued to do so with "Our Song" and it's adorable video. I didn't purchase the first album but then decided to download it and I'm glad I did, and was definately going to purchase "Fearless." I pre-ordered it and it was not a mistake and money was well-spent. I actually like every song on the cd. I work at a day care and I actually play the cd while they sleep 90% of the time. Here's my review of each song:

1. FEARLESS (4/5) - Good way to start off the cd. It's my co-worker's favorite song on the cd. Lyrics are great and makes you want to do what the song describes.
2. FIFTEEN (4/5) - Describing her freshman year experience. Although it's HER experience, you find it hard not to relate to bits and pieces of it.
3. LOVE STORY (5/5) - Ahhh...Love Story. This song should have been in the movie "The Notebook." The video and song are just amazing. It's one of the catchiest songs on the album and irresistable to sing along to.
4. HEY STEPHEN (4/5) - I have a feeling many girls out there relate to this song but are making a change to the name "Stephen." It's slow yet upbeat with catchy lyrics.
5. WHITE HORSE (5/5) - Now this is MY favorite song on the album. It's so beautifully sung and written. I can definately relate to it. If the man who broke my heart into a million pieces ever comes back to me, I'll have this song ready to throw in his face.
6. YOU BELONG WITH ME (5/5) - I love singing along to this song. One of the most relatable on the album.
7. BREATHE (5/5) - I heard Colbie Callait would be featured on this song, so I highly anticipated it. She co-wrote it with Taylor and sings background vocals. I wish it was a duet so we could hear more of Colbie, but nonetheless, it's a great song.
8. TELL ME WHY (4/5) - Not a favorite but still great!
9. YOU'RE NOT SORRY (5/5) - Another song I relate to, and dedicated to my ex.
10. THE WAY I LOVED YOU (5/5) - "So in love that I acted insane" = ME.
11. FOREVER & ALWAYS (4/5) - "It rains when you're here and it rains when you're gone." It's catchy and well-written.
12. THE BEST DAY (5/5) - This song makes you want to call up your mom and tell her you love her. It reminds us of how our moms are always there for us and all the great memories we've had with them.
13. CHANGE (4/5) - The song featured on the Olympics. It's a good song but not one of my favorites.

Need a Christmas gift idea? Go buy this cd for every girl you know and purchase a copy for yourself as well. You will not be disappointed!!
