Free Music Notes for FearlessFree Music Review: Genuinely Taylor Hit: 5 Stars
I had been anticipating the release of this album for a while and have not been dissapointed. Taylor Swift is a unique gem in the music world, her song writing ability is top notch along with the fact she also sings and plays guitar, especially when you consider the amount of people that call themselves musicians that can only barely manage the singing part. Taylor swift may not have the best voice or be the most fluid singer but thats what is so great about her, She is special in her own way and not afraid to be.
As far as the songs on the album go, They are all pretty strong. When the first album came out I didnt really like all of the songs on it but once i listened to them more they started to grow on me and I can tell that this is already happening this time around. Of course "love story" is an instant hit with such catchy lyrics, beat and such a fairytale like story that everyone can relate to wanting themselves. Then there's "The best day" which i can only imagine brought tears to her mom's eyes when she heard it, a personal story of how close she is to her family.
And of course there is the usual story or two about past relationships gone down the tubes such as "forever and always" which will inevitably become known to most people as that joe jonas song. The only bad thing about the album is the compression. All the dynamic's of the music have been squashed so much that it just doesnt let the real emotion and the strength's of taylor's beautiful voice to shine through. Most people wont notice this on their ipods and car stereo's but if they didnt try to be like everyone else and getting it as loud as possible it would have taken this album to another level.
Free Music Review: Relatable Yet Original Hit: 5 Stars
Taylor Swift is my favorite singer . She has opened my eyes to the fact that everything is not what it seems . When I was 7 or 8 years old , I hated Country music because I thought it was just yodeling . I had no idea what I was talking about . But when I heard Carrie Underwood , I began to like it . I was planning on buying her CD . When I heard Taylor , though , I knew I chose her over Carrie .
In the album "Fearless " , I can relate to the songs ...and yet they are unlike anything I've ever heard . In the song "Fifteen " , Taylor says ,"And when you're 15 , dont forget to look before you fall . " I know that is true because my 15-year-old cousin recently got hit by a car and was killed . If she had been more careful , she might have ran out of the car's way . So Taylor doesnt lie and opens the eyes of her audience . She also says , "In your life , you'll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team . " This makes her a good role model for her fans because she encourages them too not waste their entire life on boys .
I can relate to " You Belong With Me " because I currently like someone who has been my friend for years . Whenever I hear the song I think of him . He has a girlfriend , and so does the boy that Taylor talks about . It's as it Taylor can understand me . She writes all of her songs so emotionally and beautifully , that I feel like she IS me .
As for her originality , the music speaks for itself . She writes and co-writes all of her songs and they all have catchy rythyms that go well with the lyrics . You'll know what I mean when you buy the CD . Its the best CD I own ! You'll love it as much as I do !
Free Music Review: I'm not really a country fan but... Hit: 5 Stars
I gotta say, unless she seriously screws up in the future I'll probably buy more of her albums. I was exposed to Taylor's self-titled debut thanks to my mother, who bought it after hearing the admittedly rather overplayed Tim McGraw on a local country station. I wasn't a fan initially (in fact the aforementioned song tended to get on my nerves when I'd hear it on the radio), but then my mom played the CD on a long car trip and my displeasure softened first into indifference and ultimately became liking. So I was excited when, in 2008, I learned that Taylor's second album would be due out in November. I received it as a Christmas present that same year. Standout tracks for me are the title track, which has a little bit of a rock vibe to it (there are quite a few songs with that same feel actually), Fifteen, Tell me Why, You Belong with Me and Forever and Always. Others I like are The Best Day, which is a tribue to Taylor's family and in particular her mom, Breathe (admittedly a rather downing track that for some bizarre reason once served as the background music in a dream I had in which I had to give up my cat), and You're Not Sorry, which any CSI fan will remember was remixed and featured in the same episode in which Taylor herself was a guest star. And while the subject matter of the song and the episode in question are different, hearing it in the context of the episode put a rather disturbing spin on it that gave me chills.
All in all I think Fearless is an excellent album. As with her debut I like more or less every song on this album, which is quite rare for me. I'm not a big country fan but I'm definitely a Taylor fan.
Free Music Review: Please Remember Taylor is 18!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I am 21 year old college student and I love Taylor. I fell in love with her debut CD and couldnt wait for Fearless to come out. And she did not disappoint me. Her song writing is incredible and although her vocals arent huge like some country artists, I think they compliment her lyrics perfectly.
For all the critics that claim her songs are repetitive and young: SHE IS 18! There is no way she should be singing and writing songs that Martina or Carrie are singing because she hasnt experienced any of that. She has barely graduated high school! Let her be herself and sing about love and heartbreak because thats what she knows. On her THIRD album is where Im looking for some growth in lyrics, but not at 18. Put yourself in her position.
Now for the songs I liked and didnt like:
Love Story is amazing. No one can argue that.
Fearless is simple but cute. Not sure it should be a single.
Hey Stephen should def be a single. its so light and airy. Perfect for summer time! I love it
White Horse is the second single and should do well. She sounds wonderful.
You Belong with Me is an old topic but she executes it very well.
The Way I loved you is one of my favs. Def should be a single.
Fifteen and Best Days are wonderful stories, but not for radio.
The rest are simple and not my favorites, but they are enjoyable. To have atleast 6 songs that could be radio hits is incredible. So give this girl some credit! I cant wait to see what she has in store for the 3rd album.
Free Music Review: Juliet Saved Me Hit: 5 Stars
I discovered Taylor Swift after the rest of the world started giving her awards. I'm not a big country buff, but I am fairly eclectic, and I really liked what I heard of her first couple of albums on the radio. I've been meaning to get them, but hadn't gotten around to it. So this review doesn't consider the other two albums, except to say that her sound seems to be maturing a little.
Every single song on this album is really good! Her lyrics aren't really deep, but they're something just about anyone can listen to and say, "Yeah---I feel you!". These lyrics are fresh and honest and HERS. You can tell that someone didn't give her a stack of paper and say, "Let's make these tracks."
The clean sound, strutting beat and her clear, passionate, sometimes playful, sometimes achy voice make this release one of the best compilations I've heard in years. I can't wait to drive to work tomorrow -- the commute is 40 minutes and I'm looking forward to listening all over again.
I don't know if this is going to get any play on non-country stations. I bounce through FM stations so quickly I never know what genre is supposed to be where. But if it isn't already, I expect this to become one of history's important crossover albums.
This is a solid 5 in all respects.
Update: After listening to this album a few times, I started to get annoyed with some of the "I'm just a teenager" lyrics. It seems to be something that needs to spend a lot of time between listens.
