Free Music Notes for Fearless

Free Music Review: A fabulous songwriter
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a 61 year-old man, a child of the 60s. Nonetheless, I love this CD enough to bother writing this, my first ever Amazon review.

Taylor Swift has an adequate singing voice, but nothing special. What is very special, however, is the clarity, simplicity, honesty and accuracy of her songwriting. And although it took me awhile to realize it, the backup musicians on this CD are also very good.

Taylor was only 19 (or was it 18?) when these songs were written. Her life experience was limited, and so is the scope of what she writes about. There are one or two too many references to kissing in the rain (it must have been some kiss). Nonetheless, she sticks to what she knows, and she portrays it very very well.

Last night I surveyed this CD, putting the songs into categories of (1) excellent, (2) very good, (3) OK and (4) not good. Here's my take: 4 excellent, 8 very good, 1 OK. I am a tough grader, and I would have to go way back to find another record this good. Being a bit of a country fan, I would think of Garth Brooks or Rodney Crowell. Beyond that, maybe a Joni Mitchell or Beatles album. (Joni was an even bigger talent in my mind -- more poetic, better voice).

Taylor Swift is fresh, genuine, spunky, sincere and a very talented writer. Do yourself a favor and buy this CD, if you haven't already.

Free Music Review: I love Taylor Swift! Better than her debut album, in my opinion.
Hit: 5 Stars

I avoided exposing myself to Taylor Swift's music for a long time (until yesterday) because I thought she would just be another Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, etc. (all talentless hacks, in my opinion). But there is something about her music that makes it so different from that generic kind of teeny-bopper music that Hilary Duff used to churn out (she only had 2 good singles, in my opinion, one of which was "Come Clean").

Maybe it is because Taylor's music is influenced by country music, though it couldn't be called country music itself. Taylor Swift's music on this album sounds mature and timeless, and the teenybopper quality is at a minimum, making it appealing to people of all ages. I'm so impressed that she writes some of her own songs, and co-writes others.

Sometimes her voice sounds like Avril Lavigne's and Lily Allen's, but most of the time she sounds like herself. I honestly don't care if she can't sing live - I love this album! She has such a sweet singing voice on this CD.

Every song on this CD is highly listenable, but my favourites are Love Story, The Best Day, Hey Stephen, and You Belong With Me.

- from a 22-year-old reviewer who can't stand Avril Lavigne's music (I cringe when I am forced to hear Avril's "hits", such as Complicated and When You're Gone. Ugh. Over-played rubbish.)

Free Music Review: A CD for Music Lovers
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this CD because Amazon recommended. I figured if I don't like it I could always resell it. However, after listening to this CD I found it refreshing. Taylor Swift is a great young artists and has given me up for the future of music.

Fearless is a universally friendly CD in that regardless if your preference in music is country or pop you will enjoy this CD. The CD particularlly plays well because the songs do not alienate one type fan genre or the other. It gives a good balance of both country and pop.

A lot of orchestration on this cd, whether in the forefront or background, which I really enjoy because orchestras don't get much credit for being an important part of popular music.

My favorite tracks on Fearless are Fearless, You Belong With Me, Breathe, and of course the current radio hit Love Story. Tayl

Swift is a reat voice for a younger generation whom sings about topics relevant to what a teenager would currently dealing with and thinking of. Which is why this Taylor Swift is such a refreshing artist in this day and age of music. If you love music this is the CD to pick up, regardless of what particular music you prefer.

Free Music Review: FOUR STRENGTHS MAKE THIS A MUST-HAVE
Hit: 5 Stars

First, the songwriting. I am amazed at Taylor's ability to write from her experiences and her heart. Teen or adult, you will be able to identify and feel what she's dealing with along with her. Second, the production is clear and a sonic treat, easy to listen to. I used to be a radio announcer, and we would say a CD like this has "ridearoundability," meaning that you can listen to it in your car, enjoy it, and hardly if ever hit the "skip" button. Third, the arrangements are excellent, not formulaic at all. Each song stands well on its on, yet the "flow" of the CD is smooth and pretty nigh flawless. Forth, she continues to improve vocally. Guess that comes with practice and maturity. One things for sure: She has an emotionally nuanced and not-too-twangy voice that draws you into each song. Best cuts? "Fearless," "Fifteen," "Love Story" (wish they'd release her singing that one with Def Leppard on CMT's "Crossroads" -- incredible!), "Hey Stephen," "White Horse," "Breathe," "You're Not Sorry," "The Best Day," and the song she wrote for the Summer Olympics, "Change." Enjoy! I certainly have, and will!

Free Music Review: A masterful musician
Hit: 5 Stars

Taylor swift is not only cute as a button, but she is an extremely talented musician as well.

In her follow up album to her record breaking success "Taylor Swift" she wow's once again. The songs are creative, well written and a lot of fun to listen to. I am blown away that she co-writes most of her songs. She has so much talent for her age.

Love Story is very representative of the album. If you like her first single you will most likely love the rest of the album. It makes a great gift for teen girls as well. Even if they aren't fans, they will be after listening to this album.

Taylor Swift is also a great role model. You wont hear much, if any, controversy about her, unlike her teenage counterparts like Miley Cyrus. Shes a nice wholesome young girl. A great performer, her concerts are quite a treat as well.

Shes going to be a force in the music industry for decades to come.
