Free Music Notes for Taylor Swift

Free Music Review: a rare gem
Hit: 5 Stars

This is truly a wonderful work of art for Taylor Swift - and the fact that it is her debut album makes it even more noteworthy. Before this self-titled CD had I'm Only Me When I'm With You, Invisible, Perfectly Good Heart and the pop version of Teardrops on My Guitar added to it, it had eleven tracks and slightly different lyrics in Picture to Burn and Teardrops on My Guitar. From that original CD, five of the eleven songs were released as singles. That shows this artist has talent!

When I first heard of Taylor Swift - about a year ago - I was a 13-year-old, a fresh teenager, who barely knew of any music. If you'd asked me who T.I. or Madonna was, I would not have known. However, when I picked up an October 2008 Fashion Edition of Us Weekly, I saw Taylor Swift featured along with Hillary Duff and Lauren Conrad. I'll be honest with you: I thought Taylor Swift was your typical celebrity - blonde, spoiled and with way too much money to know what to do with. I didn't give her another thought until, in a later Us Weekly, I saw her in an interview; she talked about how she wrote and recorded Forever & Always shortly before the album's release, and how she's always been honest with her fans. My opinion of her didn't change, but seeing her twice in the same type of magazine didn't let me forget her quickly. Later on youtube I searched her, found her channel and watched her video for Love Story. It was the first Taylor Swift song - first country song, for that matter - I've ever listened to. And I was intrigued and amazed by the pure beauty of the video, as well as her incredible talent. Needless to say, I became a huge Taylor Swift fan. The story doesn't end there; finding Taylor Swift made me explore the musical world more, and since then my iTunes library has grown to quite an impressive size. Thank you, Taylor Swift.

To Swift's critics, this album is pure country with the exception of the pop version of Teardrops on My Guitar. My favorite songs are all the singles released from it (Tim McGraw, Picture to Burn, Teardrops on My Guitar, Should've Said No, Our Song) - but I also adore all the others. From the later-added tracks I particularly adore I'm Only Me When I'm With You.

Unless you're into the completely opposite, like screamo and heavy metal, I definitely recommend buying this album. I am so glad I did.

Free Music Review: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's self titled debut album is surprisingly good for coming from a sixteen year old. The themes of the songs are just what you would expect from a high schooler. Her songs talk mainly about love and break-ups but have a quality to them seen among artists much older then she is. The musical quality is wonderful and she truly sings the soundtrack to every young girl's life.

While her themes may seem a tad immature to an older adult they were exactly what many young girls needed both then and now. Most of the music out there that younger girls are listening to isn't anything with morals, values or even taste. Taylor Swift's music has all of these elements. None of her songs are profane, and they all speak to real life situations. They all have good morals, none of them mention sex, alcohol, or drugs. While most of her songs are love songs, the context and situation has a very wide range. They consist of anything from revenge to hurt to idealistic love to having a crush on a friend. All of these are things that affect almost every young girl and Taylor Swift has a very refreshing take on it all. Even her revenge song, Picture to Burn, isn't vindictive. It talks about getting rid of old memories, and the things she didn't like about their relationship. Even outside the area of love she has a few songs, and while not as popular, they still send a really great message. One s about feeling and being alone in the world just trying to find where you belong, and another is about faking happiness and trying to put on a mask that your ok when you're not. These are huge issues facing young girls and they lyrics to Taylor's songs are encouraging and uplifting without being cheesy.

Free Music Review: Beauty, brains, and heart
Hit: 5 Stars

I haven't bought an album in years. Just nothing on the radio seemed worth buying to hear over and over again. Then I hear "Teardrops On My Guitar", and I'm hooked. I investigate a little more online, and find myself liking all of her songs, not just the singles on the radio. She writes and plays all of her songs! This artist has substance. I'm totally captivated by the music videos that are feature film-quality displaying her expressive acting skills. I've never heard such purity and honesty conveyed by a human voice. Finally, an artist who really deserves my money and support! Such intelligent lyrics, and clever turns of phrase, it's poetry of the highest order. And then putting music to the lyrics with great hooks and guitar solos, that's just musical talent. The lesser known songs are just as good, if not even better than the singles! "A Place In This World", "Cold As You", "The Outside" (written when she was 12yo!), "Tied Together With A Smile", "Invisible". "Tim McGraw","Stay Beautiful" and "Mary's Song" just bring tears of joy to my eyes, they're such expressions of pure unselfish, love that they resemble benedictions in the form of songs. Even when she's angry: "Picture To Burn" and "Should've Said No", she's the voice of justice decrying bad behavior, selfishness, the lack of pure love; she's a force of nature you don't want to mess with. As other reviewers have noted, if these songs haven't made you fall in love with Taylor, just read the liner notes on the album. They'll bring more tears to your eyes. Taylor has a tendency to open up hearts that way. <3

Free Music Review: This is a really good CD
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this CD after Kanye West grabbed her mic from her during her VMA acceptance because I wanted to show support for her after he was such a jerk. I didn't expect that I'd be much into it because country isn't my primary forte (I'm more into Christian rock stuff), I'm old enough to be her dad, and I figured my kids would probably enjoy it. First of all she has an absolutely great voice. She is exceptionally gifted, whoever that other reviewer is that said she needs singing lessons knows not of what he speaks. The lyrics are very much in the vein of teen romance, but there is nothing wrong with that. To be honest it brought back memories of my high school days. It's much deeper than I expected coming from someone her age. Not because it's uncommon to experience hurt, and rejection at that age, but because it's hard to articulate it while keeping your perspective. Sure there's a few moments where her lyrics seem trite and self serving, but it's far better than most of what I've heard coming from that generation. All things considered I'd highly recommend this CD.

Free Music Review: A masterful musician
Hit: 5 Stars

Taylor swift is not only cute as a button, but she is an extremely talented musician as well.

In her debut album "Taylor Swift" she introduces herself to the world as a musician to be noticed. The songs are creative, well written and a lot of fun to listen to. I am blown away that she co-writes most of her songs. She has so much talent for her age.

Every single song on this album is a hit, most of the songs were released as singles and debuted as number 1's on the Billboard charts. It makes a great gift for teen girls as well. Even if they aren't fans, they will be after listening to this album.

Taylor Swift is also a great role model. You wont hear much, if any, controversy about her, unlike her teenage counterparts like Miley Cyrus. Shes a nice wholesome young girl. A great performer, her concerts are quite a treat as well.

Shes going to be a force in the music industry for decades to come.
