I recently became a fan of James Levine. His performance of these pieces from Tchaikovsky is one of the best there is. The depth and tone of most movements is captivating and (I believe) does a wonderful job of capturing the emotion of the suites. My one complaint is with the volume quality of the recording. On lighter pieces the volume of the recording drops to almost imperceptible levels. If you adjust the volume, the next selection becomes painfully loud. You should also note, this CD has just some of the best selections from each of the ballets, not entire ballets. All in all, this is a great Tchaikovsky collection. Recommended.
