I agree with all the other reviewers. This is a masterful recording. almost perfect, a great achievement.
The orchestra is somptuous, one of the rare ones that gives me shivers
throughout. All of Tchaikovsky's palette is fantastically rendered. The tempi are perfect, bordering on the fast. Witness this fast Trepak... wow...
The only thing missing here is the dancers of course. But as a listening-only experience it is very rewarding. So, just get it.

I listened a lot time ago, some versions of the nutcraker, dorati an another ones. They never follow the original version of the ballet, i watched the ballet 2 days ago and I felt dissapointment with those directors, I bought this cd and listening online, I dont have it in my hands right now, but i am waiting for it in the next days. This cd is that i was looking for, this have the same sequence of the ballet and have the complete songs. I give it 5 stars.Free Music Review: Very Nice and Fair Nutcracker

This is one of the great Nutcrackers put on record. Everything is good,
Gergiev does an excellent approach on ballet music, however i can realize
on some scratch on surface in some passages that need more psychological
treatment, found in another competitors such as Svetlanov or wonderful
Hans Vonk. This is an important recording and could be my recommendation
for everyone who is looking for just one version.

I was very excited to buy this cd, since it was the complete Nutcracker Suite and only on one cd. The orchestra does a very fine job and they may play a little faster than at a ballet, but that's probably just to fit it onto one cd. This is my favorite version of the Nutcracker and I play it year-round. I think my only problem is the cd's cover has a mechanical dog toy on it instead of a Nutcracker.Free Music Review: The Nutcracker

This is the best purchase I have made in years! It's a historical piece as it includes all the music originally written for the Nutcracker, the quality of the recording is superb and the knowledge that it is performed by the Kirov for which it was originally written gives you that extra satisfaction. A must have for any household - my kids love it too and I will be playing it all X-Mas season !
