Free Music Review: Not tech's best...
Hit: 5 Stars
Tech N9ne has, over the years, put out some of the best rap music ever!! Angelic, Absolute Power, Everready, and MLK are all better than 99.9% of any other rap music you will find. Killer is no exception, but for some reason it is not as good as its predecessors. Maybe because he was a little over ambitious with the 32 track listing, or it might be because I had such high expectations for this album. I am not saying this album is bad! It still deserves 5 stars because it is so much better than any other music you will find out there, but being a huge fan of tech n9ne, i was a little disappointed.
There are quite a few noticable downfalls on the album, when normally I am used to every song being right on point by tech. Wheaties is the first flop of a song that i heard...which made me concerned because its only the second song on the cd. Shawnna is not very good and the hook is just annoying. Also everybody move isnt very good. It starts out ok but this is one of the first times i heard tech sound like he didnt even try on the last verse! Psycho B**** II is also terrible. I have no idea why he decided to do a part II, but the intro is annoying and it just could have been left off. Drill Team was another that brought this cd down, its not a bad song, it is just not fun to listen to.
With all of those bad songs there are also a few songs that are just ok...like crybaby, blackboy, s*** is real, enjoy, i am everything, and like yeah. these are nothing special but are still not bad to listen to. But if you put these 6 songs up against the best 6 songs on lil wayne's or kanye's cd tech would outshine them by a mile.
The highlights on the cd are the waitress, i noticed that a lot of people are hating on this song but it is not a bad party song. Paint a dark picture is definitly one of the best on the album, dirtball could have been left out, this song could have been truely amazing if tech spit 3 verses instead of 1, but it is still a great track. Hope for a higher power, poisonous (which could have been even better if it didnt only have 1 verse), too much (which also should have been longer), i love you but F*** you, one good time, let's go, seven words, the sexorcist, happy ending, and last words are all great.
Overall the highlights outshine the disappointments, i was just disappointed because tech has spoiled me in the past by making every song amazing!! 5 stars because this album is better than anything else you will buy in 2008!!
