Free Music Review: Telepopmusik gives Trip-hop and Electronic listeners fresh air to Breathe

Genetic World was an eye opener to a whole nother genre of music that had been hidden in the darkness of underground. With more than 250,000 sold worldwide, Telepopmusik and their fans should be very proud of this underground hit. The production on all of the songs are very solid, Angela McCluskey's 50's-sound-a-like vocals only add to the charm of the album and while Mau's rapping and spoken word may take a couple listens to get used to, you will find yourself loving every single second of this album.
Breathe - The album's opener is the song we've all heard on the Mitubishi commericial before. It is a song so rare to come by as it combines elements of Trip-hop, Chill out, lounge, and air-like vocals and pulls it off extremely well. 10/10
Genetic World - The title track is full of complicated sounds and almost dublike vocals. Very nice. 8/10
Love Can Damage Your Health - The finest French/Trip-hop Jazz song I've ever heard. The lyrics are A++ and once again the production is solid. 10/10
Smile - This is my favorite cut on the album. The production and vocals blend together perfectly. 10/10
Dance Me - This is the albums downfall. While it is still a very solid song and it continues the flow of the CD, it's very bland and sounds like something that could be heard on a video game. 6/10
Da Hoola - Mau's first appearance on the CD and he opens it up well! His flow is one of the most unique I've heard and the lyrics are not trash. The guitar in this song is definatley a stand out for me. I feel Telepomusik could've done more with the Chorus though 9/10
Let's Go Again - This was a track I initally didn't like at all. It sounded all over the place to me but I've spun this album more than 30 times and it's now a favorite of mine. "You are now listening to the sounds of a nervous breakdown" was cleverly added and I never paid attention to that line. Once you hear that hidden line you will understand the songs purpose. 10/10
Trishika - Telepopmusik doesn't really do anything special on this track. Mau presents spoken word at it's best and allows you to interperate the lyrics however you would like. 7/10
Yesterday Was a Lie - Futuristic 50's music at it's best. Both Telepopmusik and Angela McCluskey did a bang up job on the albums ballad. With Billie Holiday like vocals it only adds to the songs charm. 10/10
L'incertitude D'heisenberg - This is the BEST track on the album. The production is insane for an Electronica track. It is the best Lounge/Chill track I've heard in the history of Electronica. I could have this on repeat for days. 11/10
Breathe (Extended Mix) - Right up there with Breathe. This is a great follow up to L'incertitude D'heisenberg. 10/10
Great album. I also recommend their sophomore album "Angel Milk," Angela McCluskey's debut album "The Things We do" and some Massive Attack albums.
