Free Music Review: Edited Version: Even Funnier

Listening to this album brings back all the fondest memories of the movie, like Jables blowing up a guy's head with his voice or flying through the clouds with Bigfoot on their way to the "Stwah-bewwy Wivver".
The edited version I bought is even funnier with the words they have chosen to substitute instead of just dropping the audio.
For Example:
-Kickapoo:
"My Father says your evil, but, man, he can suck a ROCK"!
-Classico:
"He is going to MOW YOUR FREAKING GRASS and you know, his name is Kyle Gass...rocking and FREAKING rolling, etc."
-The Government Totally Sucks:
"The goverment would BUTTERCUP his right-e-ous A!"
Anyway, as you can imagine, they had a lot of "F-Bombs" to cover up, but you still get like 3 of them in for dramatic effect.
So if you can get your hands on an edited copy, I highly recommend it, otherwise enjoy it for what it is: rockin' riffs with funny twists.

If you loved the movie, you already know you'll love the soundtrack. If you're a fan of comedy music and you haven't been introduced to Tenacious D, maybe their previous album is a better place to start- though this one has several superior tracks it may depend a little on already knowing about Jable's and Kyle's lyrical exploits. The only bad thing I can saw about this album critically is that it's way too short, being barely over 30 minutes.Free Music Review: Excellent! despite gratuitous F bomb use

I loved it! Once you get past the overused F word its AWESOME! Mr. Black is hilarious AND talented with his use and abuse of music. Once you get past the language thing...the music really rocks AND makes you laugh at the same time...I'm still not sure how bigfoot fits in...but the line: "Your gonna gargle man-aze...ewugh!" still cracks me up!Free Music Review: Review for the limited edition "P.O.D." soundtrack

This version of "PICK OF DESTINY", as noted, comes as follows:
* A copy of the soundtrack, which is NOT in a jewelcase, but in a cardboard package with the 3-D artwork pasted onto the front (NOTE it is the same 3-D/lenticular image that is also available on the regular edition of the soundtrack)
* 8 Tarot cards, each one an illustrated reflection of "the genesis of the D". Cute.
* A replica "pick of destiny", plastic-y but nicely detailed.
* A cheap fold-out poster - not the film artwork, but a shot of JB, KG and Saskquatch. It's quite small- it is housed in the cardboard CD holder.
* A cardboard box to hold it.
The music-- well we've all waited a LOOONG time for new Tenacious D material (I mean, they've been mainstream since their show debuted in '98 on HBO as a Mr. Show bumper, and this is only their 2nd album!), and personally I'm a bit let-down. A few of the songs are GREAT, but in total the album is only 35-min. long, and of that probably only 20 minutes are worthwhile NEW material ('Classico' and 'History of Tenacious D' are not new songs). I'd hoped for more, honestly; I suppose we'll have another 4-to-5 year wait for more material??
Overall this "Limited Edition" it's hardly worth the extra $$, in my opinion, unless you REALLY need the replica Pick Of Destiny. The 3-D artwork is the exact same as on the regular (and much cheaper) version, the cardboard case the CD comes-in is just cheap, and the poster is definately nothing special (it's so small I'm surprised they didn't include that in the regular version as well).
All that said-- ooking forward to seeing the flick.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Tenacious D. Loved the movie. Love the whole concept of the best band in the world, but we heard it already. The sound is incredable, they are absolutly histerical, but the music is in the same old place. Let's see a new angle next time.
