Free Music Review: what a friend we have in ernie
Hit: 5 Stars

i am not particularly religious in the organized, go-to-church sense, but was raised on these songs when i was a kid, in the 50's and 60's, and grew to love them and got a good part of what ever religion i now have from them; this album hits most of the high spots of the TEF hymn album we had when i was a boy.

i remember two TEF albums back then; one of hymns and one of spirituals. neither is currently available and some of the songs are not on any of currently available albums. I cannot find 'noah found grace in the eyes of the lord" or 'walk in jeruselum just like john" anywhere and "the ninety and nine" I believe is available on another collection.

however, i heartily recommend this album as a good cross section of TEF's hymns and introduction to his religious music. as with elvis, hymns and gospel were TEF's first love. this album is a good quality recording and captures his rich baritone. the songs are all familiar hymns; you will probably sing along with them and get some religion from them as i did. play them for your kids. by osmosis, they may pick up some pea-pickin' theology along the way...

Free Music Review: Great Performances
Hit: 5 Stars

The 1st CD of Mr. Ford's that I purchased was entitled Amazing Grace: 40 Treasured Hymns -- a year later and I still frequently pop that magnificent collection of hymns into the drive. I HAD to have more -- so I purchased 2 other Ernie hymn CDs (including this one) -- and these certainly do not disappoint. While these CDs are comprised of age-old favorite hymns, Mr. Ford's unique, flawless bass voice gives them added life. Blend Mr. Ford's pure, non-pretentious bass voice with a judicious mixture of crisp alto's and tenor's, as some of the selections do, and you are presented with truly, magnificent works of art that seem to never get old. Just drop the CD into the drive, sit back, relax, and let Mr. Ford sing you back home with this soothing collection of favorite hymns.

Free Music Review: Making a joyful (and beautiful) noise to the Lord
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is perfect for anyone who loves the old hymns. It includes one song that younger people may have never heard before: Church in the Wildwood. I'm 32 and had never heard it. It's a wonderful song and one of my favorites now.

Tennesse Ernie sings beautifully on this album. He has a deep, rich voice and a great choir backing him up. It sounds like these people are really worshipping God and having a good time as well.

I'm listening to the album as I write this review. Which is actually making it a little difficult, because this is music you want to sing along with. I think this album will be a real blessing to everyone who hears it.

Free Music Review: A wonderfully sung group of hymns. Filled with reverence.
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the old-time sung favorite hymns I used to listen to while young and at home. Hasn't lost any of it's inspiring message in 30 years time. Shows respect and love for God and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The deep timbre of Tennessee Ernie Ford and the melodic harmonizations of the other voices ring out to touch my heart even today!

I just LOVE to listen to it!

Free Music Review: Rock 'n' Roll free gospel
Hit: 5 Stars

Old time hymns without the rock n roll. Years ago the churches condemned rock n roll as evil. Now most of them have rock bands in church, what's up with that eh? There is no rock here my friends just good gospel music spreading the good news! Welcome home to those who remember the good music that God surely likes.
