Free Music Notes for Seed of Memory

Free Music Review: Waited too long.....
Hit: 5 Stars

I read about Terry Reid maybe 20 years ago, as he was sought out by Jimmy Page to be the lead vocalist for the New Yardbirds, later Led Zeppelin. Voice is somewhat similar in some ways to Robert Plant, and it's interesting to note that Page definately had that style of voice in mind. A smoother version of Rod Stewart, who was on the first two Jeff Beck albums. Having read about Terry Reid, it was always,"I'm going to get some of his work to check him out." Watched the Rob Zombie movie,"Devil's Rejects", and loved the closing song. Lo and behold Terry Reid. It was twenty years in getting, and is going to be the CD to end my summer '07. As with the other reviews, if you like Crosby,Stills,Nash, and Young, you'll dig this. The liner notes say he turned down Deep Purple as well, before Ian Gillan took over. Can only imagine him working with Tommy Bolin after Blackmore left....Anyway, get this, you won't regret it......

Free Music Review: Excellent well sung and produced album.
Hit: 5 Stars

This 1976 release is of a very high standard indeed. Three long years after his excellent "River" album - also much recommended - this is of a different feel. The writing is of a high standard throughout as is the playing, but it's Terry's voice that makes it, a voice of such character and warmth that one can never understand why he was never a huge star.
Graham Nash, an old pal from Terry's 'Jaywalking' days in England is in the producers chair, and a very good job he does. Graham is also a consummate harmony singer and this quality is found throughout the album.
The feel of the album is happy and relaxed, no doubt due to the presence of Graham Nash. The songs all written by Terry are all of a high standard, perhaps his most assured and consistent album in his career.
Highly recommended as is "River".

Free Music Review: Ridiculous Album
Hit: 5 Stars

This album, for me personally, ranks right up there with Led Zeppelin I-IV, the Beatle's White Album and Sticky Fingers from the Stones. I think it has to be the most slept-on classic rock album (and artist) of all time. Terry really came into his own on this album with some much more well-contructed songs. He knows exactly when to take over the track with that always right-on-key raspy yell, but his guitar work is what sets this album apart from Rivers, Superlungs and Bang Bang.
I can't say enough about this album. Every song is a classic, my personal favorites being Seed of Memory, Brave New Awakening, The Frame and Make Me Feel So Young. This album will never get old. Buy it if you like any classic rock at all and you will have something to show your friends that they will thank you for forever.

Free Music Review: WOW!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I've only recently become aware of Terry Reid. I was watching "The Devil's Rejects" and really liked the songs on the soundtrack, not knowing that Rob Zombie used 3 Terry Reid songs. I picked up the soundtrack and after listening to it ad nauseum for weeks,I decided to try to find some Terry Reid stuff. Boy am I glad I did! "Seed of Memory" has not left my CD player since I got it. EVERY SONG IS GOOD. There is not one song on this CD that I skip over. I play it over and over and over again obsessively. I just wish I was around when his music came out initially. I'm 29 and "Seed of Memory" was released the same year I was born (1976....a GREAT year!LOL!). Why can't today's music sound as cool as this?

Free Music Review: An absolute classic...his best album!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

God bless Terry Reid!
This album, the follow up to "River", incorporates so many musical styles, Funk, Country, Jazz, soul "whatever".... into a seemless perfect album.

An album that finds our Terry in great voice (as usual) with his, often ovelooked, guitar skills in great shape too.
The inclusion of a pedal steel via Al Perkins, adds so much to the overall feel and depth of the this great album.
Finally those harmonies, where Reid is joined by his old buddy Graham Nash,..."Phew" stunning to say the least!! I could go on and on.
PLEASE,just go and buy the album already! Like NOW!!!
