Free Music Review: superlungs terry should have been superstar

this is the fella that was jimmy page's first choice as singer for led zeppelin. when terry turned him down, jimmy got robert plant instead. i had the original vinyls and they were my most played vinyls during that time. i knew terry had great pipes, listen to his rendition of donovan's superlungs , and terry's own marking time, speak now or forever hold your piece, tinker tailor,etc... for examples of how he handles those ball-busting screamers. and can he sings the sweet stuff as well: mayfly, stay with me baby, summer sequence.what else? he writes most of his own tunes, and none of them are slouches either; no la dee da formula type pop-tunes from this guy. he also knows how to syncopate well on rhythm guitar, plus the occasional flare that enlightens us he can also play tasty blues and jazz on lead-guitar. tasty, i said; not mindless, over-indulgent "look at me i'm the fastest thing on 6 strings and spandex" licks.
terry's choice of other people's music is an added bonus, viz: dylan's highway 61, eddie cochran's summertime blues, season of the witch (yet another donovan's tune)... and who else could transform a "la dee da flower-power" tune such as sonny bono's bang bang into his own fine brand of fire-power.
the biggest surprise (and how so,too), must surely be the cache of prevously-unreleased tunes (ain't that peculiar, funny how time slips away,etc) where terry sings jazz and rnb.
is there anything terry reid cannot do? um, let me see...
he did not become the great superstar that he so richly deserved to be. well, that goes to show how much those in the music business know about the profound talents; if you ask me, they can't see the forest from the trees. lol.
he could have been superstar had he joined jimmy page's led zeppelin, you say? goodness me;
i think led zeppelin would have been too stifling for the likes of terry reid. a super set from a really fine musician.
