Free Music Review: The Album to End All Albums
Hit: 5 Stars

I can honestly say that I lost interest in Testament, and thrash in general for that matter, in the early 90s as the scene splintered off into a million directions as a result of the death metal takeover and grunge revolution. I've always considered Souls of Black to be the last REAL Testament record. Yes, I know. The stuff they've released since then has probably all been great. But I just had no desire to check any of it out. Testament was just not Testament without Alex, in my opinion, and The Ritual was just a bit too "hard rockish" for my tastes.

Well, that changes today with this release. The classic lineup is back with an excellent album that seems to be tailor-made for those of us who will always have that classic thrash sound in our hearts no matter how old we get. This album totally takes me back to a time when metal was exciting. The riffs are crushing. The vocals are right on. The solos are phenominal. Just all around awesome. It sounds...no kidding...like a remastered The New Order. I'm totally floored that they were able to recreate that magic so many years later. Just awesome.

I'm super excited to see many of the classic old school thrash bands return to their purest form. Now if only Metallica would wisen up and give us another Puppets...

Free Music Review: Great thrash metal album!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Testament has always been my second fav thrash band after Megadeth and i enjoyed all their albums from the legacy through the gathering, except demonic. All i can say here is that, 8 years absence does NOT make them rusty, the line up is in fact the best they ever had! 4 original members + Paul Bostaph!! The first track "More then meets the eye" is no doubt my fav song on this one, a quality crunching thrash riff with blazing yet melodic solo! Chuck Billy vocal is just as strong as in Gathering, he always deliver no matter clean or growl. The drum fill by Paul Bostaph through out the album is really impressive. Other fav tracks
are Evil has landed, Dangers of the faithless, Afterlife and finally one of the best Testament song, Henchman ride!, this one really has thrashing tempo with Brutal riffing and fast solo!

To be honest, this album will not grow on you with just 2-3 listen, you'll need at least 10! then you'll start to reliase how brutal Testament riff can be. I also dig the album cover as it has a really good artwork and very detailed. So, for all thrasher, you'll certeintly will like this one as long you dont give up on it in just 3listens.

Free Music Review: 4.5 - May very well be their BEST!
Hit: 5 Stars

Testament really makes a solid return on 'Damnation'. It sounds unbelievably fresh and is very well produced. The best SOUNDING CD of their career, thats for sure. I mean this is crisp and drum heavy. just what the band needed.

There isnt much new, but most fans dont want a new direction. Besides, people would only bitch if it was 'different' after such a long hiatus. What i will say is that if you love Testament, especially 'Souls Of Black' and 'Gathering', this CD will not disappoint. To me it sounds like a mix of the 2. Chuck Billy sounds in good form, without the death metal stylings and Alex Skolnick plays some great leads.

There is no need to break each song down because this is a TRUE TESTAMENT CD. But the best tracks are 'The Persecuted Wont Forget', with its incredible riff that sounds like 80's thrash sped up, but really hits hard and the track 'Killing Season' is killer as well. to name a few. But If you like their stuff before, you will only like it more now. Not many bands can create one of their best career CD's 20+ years in, but Testament have done just that.

It really is a killer CD and well worth the wait.

Free Music Review: great rebirth of testament
Hit: 5 Stars

you can't count on this type of reivention of a band everyday.this is an excellent cd. I hear all past cd infleunces but this is raw and mean.I think this cdwas worth twice the wait if needed the last testament i like was low but it was missing a couple things threw it but James Murphy kills in Alex's place but tempesta realy didn't help sell low either.this on has 95% of the musical talent you would expect from testament.the gathering was good but It ws missing some of the formula but better than demonic( the retarded cd)with that cast of musicans they could have done 500% better.souls and ritual were lacking elements and suffered for production and than writing loss.this cd fits somewhere in the middle of practice what you preach and low with the two first cd influence in there too.Alex should have not used the harmonizer for solo's it kills the tone to me and makes it stale not razor sharp.Bostoph is legandary for his drumming and proves it here but maybe held back from his normal pounding.
this is the cd to buy It you like testament and gave up on them before.you need this one it's vital thrash.

Free Music Review: More than meets the eye for sure
Hit: 5 Stars

With 4 of the original 5 members of TestAmenT back together for this release we hear the band with their most solid lineup to date. I'm a huge fan of Lou Clemente, but Paul Bostaph is simply a more technically proficient drummer. Alex Skolnick's lead work continues to amaze me and you can hear the growth that has occurred in his musicianship over the past 15 years or so since his time at New York's New School University and various jazz/fusion projects. Eric Peterson is hands down the best rhythm player on the metal scene and has yet to disappoint in over 20 years of TestAmenT releases. Greg Christian still hammers the bass like no one in the business and Chuck Billy still sounds as good as he did nearly 10 years ago on The Gathering. It's outstanding to hear that these guys are still in top form musically and can continue to make interesting music together. The standout tracks on TFOD are F.E.A.R. and More Than Meets the Eye. Overall this is an outstanding release and highly recommended!
