Free Music Notes for Formation of DamnationFree Music Review: They're Back And It's No Let Down Hit: 5 Stars
After many years since releasing a new album you'd think they may have lost their touch. Not so. Testament is back and in top form. Chuck Billy (Testament's lead vocalist) has an excellent voice for conveying power and is totally kick a**, but also has an element of melody. The guitars never stray too far from a melody also, but relax, it's hardcore enough to keep your head banging and the mosh pits active. The guitars are thick and meaty and provide catchy satisfying riffs throughout the entire album. The drums are perfect. Yes, The Formation of Damnation is a satisfying listen indeed. If you are new to Testament, this album is a good bet, but also consider The Gathering and Low. All 3 are truly excellent Testament albums.
Free Music Review: Testament's back Hit: 5 Stars
Testament's back with a bang. This Cd isn't as strong as the first 3 and the gathering, but it's still pretty Impressive considering how long these guys have been around. I think TFOD is a mixture of all the styles they have done over the years, I hear some vintage testament sounds from the 80's and also a touch of the gathering. Even the ritual makes a return On this release, but of course this is all done with a modern feel. The drumming is great, but I do admit I miss Mr. Lombardo. His work on the gathering was amazing. All in all, a great release from this underated band.
Free Music Review: Real Thrash at its finest! Hit: 5 Stars
I've been listening to Testament since the Legacy was released back when I was in High School. After all these years it's great to still have one of the finest thrash bands around...
With bands like Metallica who were pioneers in the thrash seen back when Testament formed selling out today with commercialized garbage it's a breath of fresh air to hear a great band sticking to its roots. This album blows away Death Magnetic in every category. "THE FORMATION OF DAMNATION" is Testaments best work to date and is easily the best thrash album realeased this year.
Free Music Review: Wow... Hit: 5 Stars
After "The Legacy" I figured Testament would put out a few more bad albums and just fade away. Or even worse sell out their fans like Metallica and change their whole format to please the commercial masses (and their bank accounts). Out of whim I downloaded The Formation of Damnation and for only $5 what can I possibly lose? BTW thanks Amazon!! This is by far the best metal album I purchased in many years. There is not one song on the album I do not like. It's just old school metal and that's how it should be. WOW! My ears are still ringing from playing it so loud!!!!!!!
Free Music Review: Amazing!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
The guy that posted before me is CLUELESS!! I have been a fan of TestAment since 1989 and this album is one of Testament's best ever. Great vocals, Amazing solos and most important Awesome songwriting. My favorite TestAment albums are The Legacy, Practice What You preach, The Gathering and making the list now is The Formation of Damnation. This album has something for everybody that loves Heavy and Trash Metal. I had an advance copy since last Friday and I swear I listened to this CD over 25 times already and still counting... I Love it!
