This soundtrack is a wonderful tapestry of music. I agree that the soundtrack does contain strains from The Wind and Lion, but this soundtrack has a richer, more mature level of instrumentation. I have listened to the music for several days and really love track 15 - Valhalla/Viking Victory. I especially enjoy the blending of the various themes in this piece. When reviewed in perspective with the movie - a wonderful blending of the two mediums. Thanks to Mr. Goldsmith for a truly magnificent score.Free Music Review: A really enjoyable work, see the movie, feel the music!

Sound tracks come & go, this one will stay. The music fits the genre and the film quite well. My family is from Sweden, so I pay particular attentionto how the Vikings were portrayed, and how the music 'portrayed' them. The Pagans & the Muslim were both treated with respect. And the music carries the respect they both deserve. Watch out for track #9, "The Fire Dragon". You might do as I did and play it over about five times. Sit back and enjoy the music! What can i say, this is an EXCELLENT score, it just shows again what a genius Jerry Goldsmith is, he brilliantly blends an arbian type theme with the legends of the norsemen, i can honestly say that i dont have a favourite cue on the CD because i like them all, but if my arm was twisted, i would choose the tracks Viking Heads, The Fire Dragon, Underwater Swim, and Valhalla/Viking Victory as the great stand outs. All in all its 60 minutes of Goldsmith genius, and some really exciting music.Free Music Review: An old style returned

I was hoping that Goldsmith would find a good exciting style that would not bore his fans. And he did with 13th Warrior,it was often tossed around for awhile between him and Greame Revell who is another fine composer.But I'm glad that Micheal Crichton made Goldsmith the final choice,this score probabbly saved him from extinction,after doing the boring Haunting which had a pretty good score.Free Music Review: Excellent soundtrack w/ a truly mighty nordic feel!

I don't know much about soundtracks and compositions. I do know however, that upon seeing the 13th Warrior, I fell in love w/ the music! It's packed w/ power, suspense, and victory. If you like the war type compositions, this is somewhat similar to what you'd expect from something like Conan...but a lot better. Check this out, and recommend to me some other similar soundtracks too! A+
