Free Music Review: Very Mature

I was rather disappointed when I first heard this. I was expecting something more energetic and metal-ish, but this was more just hard rock. It's also surprisingly mature hard rock, where the band is consistently very focused and controlled. The singing isn't particularly unique, but it works well once you get used to it. This is a huge departure from the sound of P.O.D., aside from Marcos' style, so don't expect a band like them. It's definitely worth a listen, and you might find it very rewarding.

Made up of ex-members of POD, Sprung Monkey, and Grammatrain, these guys prove they're more than your average hard rock radio band. Dubbed by fans as AeX, the group started out touring with the likes of Foo Fighters, Korn, Damage Plan, Drowning Pool, Sevendust, Cypress Hill, Staind, Blur, and Body Count. Metal Edge Magazine named them one of the Twenty Bands To Watch, and MTV News featured the group twice, describing them as "eclectic and musically adventurous". With elements reminiscent of the dark beauty of Black Sabbath, the epic complexity of Rush, the artistic muscle of early Soundgarden, and the flamboyant yet aggressive experimentation of Led Zeppelin, AeX sound more like a natural progression of such legendary hard rock than most of today's over-hyped and generic formula music.Pop Music CDs
