Free Music Notes for Remove the EarthFree Music Review: Good Enough Hit: 5 StarsWhile this is not on Solid State, this is far better than most on the label. Advent is remniscent of Strongarm and Shai Hulud, as well as Turmoil and maybe even some NY style hardcore. the earlier reviews stated that there are members from Beloved, however Beloved was't that hardcore given the 50/50 split singing Vs hardcore vox. This bands is. You might as well forget Beloved had these guys in the band beacuse they sound nothing alike. The lyrics are faith based and very heart felt. I recommend this if you are in need of a hardcore album that isn't anything but hardcore. AS I said before, Strongarm is a definite influence both musically and lyrically. Maybe even the name (advent of a miracle). Good all around album. worth the 10 bucks or so, depending on where ou buy it. Also to the country bumpkin that called the group vocals corny, ummm thats what hardcore bands do. They have sing-alongs and gang vocals. Its the one of the many definements of the genre. Your just jealous you don't get invited up on stage for the gang vocal sing-alongs!
Free Music Review: It's definately doesn't sound like Beloved (us) Hit: 3 StarsAdvent features 3 members of Beloved (R.I.P., croaked in 2005): Joe Musten - vocals, Johnny Smrdel - bass, & Matt Harrison - guitar. Now you may say to yourself, "Beloved? Wow I used to love those guys. Singing and screaming, bunch of fun stuff, right?" Well, while this album is pretty good, it's not anything like Beloved. When Beloved called it quits it was due to a mixture of personal growth (marrying, having kids, all that good stuff) and side projects wearing the band down (Advent being one of them). This album is pretty heavy and you won't hear any singing on it, it's yelling and the occasional corny hardcore crowd chant (like in "blackout"). There's kind of a dark cloud hanging over the whole cd, and this is what kind of makes me lose interest. There's not a whole variety of tempos and if you're not careful you won't even notice the track changes. But if you really loved Beloved and their heavy moments, this is heavier and it may or may not be your cup of tea. I'd listen to a track or two if I were you (a person considering purchasing this album) before diving into the pocket book.
Free Music Review: Not a bad cd. Hit: 4 StarsI took a risk when buying this, without hearing much of the cd, after hearing the first track I felt a bit dissapointed, but as time grew on listening to the rest of the album. I actually got into it. They are totally worth checking out if you are into grindcore, but with nice clean riffs. Head-banging worthy cd. I can't wait to hear a 2nd cd, they have alot of good potential to make it even bigger.
Overall good cd, not the best thing ever, but its got alot of good clean catchy tunes. buy :)
