Free Music Notes for The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Free Music Review: I get it, I just don't want it
Hit: 1 Stars

I well remember when I first heard "I Will Survive" (I recall retching profusely afterwards) I like ABBA and don't consider then a four letter word, and I got the joke behind the Village People but did not want it or the horrid music they made.

Like other reviews I enjoyed the movie a great deal, but could only tolerate this music as a backdrop for the characters and the setting. No power on earth could get me to actually buy this thing.

Free Music Review: Finally...I Survived the Groove Thang!
Hit: 4 Stars

There are pre-requisites for appreciating this CD. The narrow-minded need not apply. 1. A deep, nostalgic connection with the disco era/late 70's. If you remember exactly where were you when you heard "I Will Survive" for the first time, then this will get your Pop-Rocks in an uproar. 2. If you get the kitsch behind the Village People. 3. Abba is not a four letter word.

On the serious tip, I deducted 1 star for (a) not using the original artist of "Billy, Don't be a Hero," (b) the fact that "I've Never Been to Me" was included on the soundtrack and (3) that the radio versions of the dance tracks were included.

Free Music Review: Bleah!
Hit: 1 Stars

We really don't need anymore reminders of that painful era of "music" known as disco.

Free Music Review: Really bad stuff here
Hit: 1 Stars

While I enjoyed this movie, the soundtrack is so full of some really bad songs that it is a mystery why anybody would want it. Charlene's "I've Never Been To Me" has to rank among the worst songs of all time. The lyrics are dreadful, the production unimaginative, and the spoken word section is, quite possibly, the most cringe inducing moment ever recorded.

Things don't get better either. "I Love The Nightlife" has some of the worst singing I've ever heard, "I Will Survive" is a massive cliche and "Go West" is a Village People song which is reason enough alone to dislike it.

Very sad that this CD is still in print.

Free Music Review: Great film, great soundtrack - nuff said!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Mama mia, this CD should be compulsory listening at all parties. If people don't dance when its playing check their pulses and call an ambulance. If by chance they are still breathing tell them to go home to bed with a hot cup of cocoa. Finally, I love the nightlife.................
