Free Music Notes for A Decade of Hits 1969-1979

Free Music Review: all this music is delicious
Hit: 5 Stars

I'll admit at first I did not like this album. I maybe listened to it once and put it back on the shelf thinking I would never pull it off again. but over a year I matured I guess and was reading a review of LIVE AT FILLMORE EAST and I got curious again. Why do people think this band is so brilliant I thought. So I pulled it off the shelf where it had been collecting dust and put it on. It took a couple of listens I'll admit but finally my brain cleared and I fell in love with it. My favorite song is the only song off the live album FILLMORE EAST. Statesborough blues, boy do I love that song. To think a band could play so perfectly live amazes me. I now want to buy Fillmore East because If any of the songs are as good as Statesborough Blues Live then its worth it. All the songs on this CD are great so buy it or buy Eat a Peach see if you like that and then start collecting the albums individually thats the way I would have gone. Anyway yes this has great songs.

Free Music Review: This is the best "Best Of" albulms.
Hit: 5 Stars

I am constantly listening to this albulm. (So much, in fact, that my husband recently hid it from me!) This has all of my favorite songs. I have seen them live and every time that I listen to this record it takes me back to that wonderful night. I would reccommend this albulm to any fan of the ABB.

Free Music Review: Super "Best of" CD that will leave you Wanting More
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a very nicely done Greatest Hits from the Allmans. They recorded some incredible songs after the death of Duane (Melissa, Southbound, Wasted Words, Crazy Love, Jessica etc) and they are featured here in addition to Duane classics from the 1st 4 albums. Too bad there wasn't enough room for Can't Loose What You Never Had, Don't Want You No More/Not My Cross To Bear, Pegasus, Trouble No More and some of the other Allman classics from the 70s, but overall this is their best single complilation CD. I would also check out "An Evening With the Allman Bros" and "Where It All Begins" to see how great they still sound in the 1990s.

Free Music Review: Great CD!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD will get you hooked on this band. The ABB are still sounding great and playing new music at the end of the 90s.

Free Music Review: This album is not the "Best" of the Brothers
Hit: 2 Stars

This CD is not the best of the Allman Brothers, but is an O.K. CD all the same. Unfortuantely, it focuses more on the post-Duane era than when the guitarist was with the band, and when their best material was produced. Instead, for a true best of album, get "Beginnings" (their first two albums on one disc, or "Live at Fillmore East", which shows off the jamming side of the band better and includes some blues tunes never recorded in the studio (by the Allman Brothers).
