Free Music Notes for Idlewild SouthFree Music Review: Go, Gregg Hit: 3 StarsProduced by the great Tom Dowd, who also produced Aretha Franklin and Eric 'Derek' Clapton among others, this is the Brothers' second album and a worthy successor to their eponymous debut. Duane Allman is among the greatest guitarists there ever was, but it's Allman the younger who shines on this. Gregg Allman is rightly praised for his magnificent singing, but the quality of his songwriting, at least in the early days, is sadly overlooked. The promise he showed on the first album is realised here with the outstanding 'Midnight Rider', surely an American classic, the splendid 'Don't Keep Me Wonderin', the touching 'Please Call Home' and even the weird and wonderful 'Leave My Blues At Home'. Allman had the bluesman's uncanny ability to say a lot in a few, simple words. Honours should go to Dickey Betts, too, for 'In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed', a wonderful instrumental which became a live tour de force. And Berry Oakley has a riot as he belts out a frenzied but fun reading of Willie Dixon's 'Hoochie Coochie Man'. All that said, the album is scant on length, so I'll subtract an extra star. You'd be well advised to shell out a little extra for Beginnings, a two-for-one which gives you the debut album as well.
Free Music Review: good but first one is way better Hit: 5 Starsidlewild south is an awsome album but its not there best.i really like hoochie coochie man its better than muddy waters version, berry oakly sounds like johny winter!
Free Music Review: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Hit: 5 StarsThis is fabulous! Midnight Rider has to be my most favorite on the whole CD. If you want something to hold your interest and keep you wanting more, this is the cd for you. Hey ABB...that is what we want...MORE!
Free Music Review: More classic songs Hit: 5 StarsThe second album shows more southern style than the blistering debut. The acoustic textures of "Revival" and "Midnight Rider" prove the ABB had more than just technique and ability. Whether you pick this up on its own or as part of the "Beginnings" package you will not be disappointed. Except for the fact that this cd is skimpy time-wise.
Free Music Review: one of the best Hit: 5 Starsthe allman bros really move me in a special way,the whole album puts you in a dream world and when the album is over you become upset because its so damn short! i do wish dreams was on this album because it kinda sets the mood
