Free Music Notes for The Allman Brothers at Fillmore East

Free Music Review: JOY TO THE WORLD !
Hit: 5 Stars

Sorry folks, but I can't write an objective review of "At Fillmore East" because it has been my favorite album of all time for three decades. I have owned this in one format or another since I bought the double LP for $6.98 in a Florida department store in 1972. Still today, it is the most listened to CD I own, and it just keeps getting better, year after year. The magic of the original Allman Brothers Band, the magic of the Fillmore East, and the magic of rock music in the early seventies are all captured on this album, and you get blues, rock, and jazz in extended jams to take you on the magic carpet ride to get there. This is rock music in it's purest form. Nothing phony here, no studio tricks, overdubs, or slick production. These are musicians "in the zone", perfectly tuned in to each other, so much you can feel it in this music. These guys were playing for the love of music, each other, and their audience, not for the love of money. Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jaimoe. It only happens once in a lifetime, and it's pure joy!

Free Music Review: Absolutely Amazing Stuff
Hit: 5 Stars

In the 70's there were two albums that were mandatory for any quality record collection. Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" was one and of course the Allman Brothers "Live at The Fillmore East". An absolutely magical performance that was extremely well recorded to go along with an amazing musical performance. DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY THIS ALBUM, it is so good that I have bought it 5 times to replace the older versions. I have also bought it for younger people who think that Lynyrd Skynryd is the only band that defines southern rock. The Allman Brothers at the time of this recording were the best American rock band and you could make a great argument that they were also the best rock band in the world. Listen for yourself...

Free Music Review: A Classic Worthy of Adding to your CD Collection
Hit: 5 Stars

If this album was as much a part of your youth as it was mine, you will know that this band and this disc are a must have in your CD collection. The sound quality is excellent and the songs timeless. Enjoy forever.

Free Music Review: Hours of Jammin' Blues!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great investment! Duane starts out with a great slide guitar in "Statesboro Blues" You almost feel like you are at the concert. I also love the 20 minute "You don't love me"....It just makes you want to get up and dance, especially during the guitar break."Elizabeth Reed" is a 10 minutes of jazz.... and what blues concert would be complete without T-Bone Walkers sexy "Stormy Monday" Gregg Allmans voice sounding smooth like melted butter.

Free Music Review: Still the best
Hit: 5 Stars

After recently taking the vinyl LP out after about 15 years of storage, I found that even with all the snaps, crackles and pops, it is still the best recording I have. But I'm ordering a new recording. Having two drummers covers up some of the snaps and pops, but not enough. To me this record is one the few symphonic rock records; only a few bands have been good enough to put this sort of thing together. These players come up with one great melodic and rhythmic piece after another and have wonderful changes in tempo and arrangement. I got to see them in Tampa Florida many years ago (duh)and even though the venue was designed for basketball, it was the best concert I've heard. I've read that one or more of the cuts on this recording are actually blends of a couple of pieces from the live concert. I never noticed that but it will be interesting to get the less edited version.
