The Almost-Southern Weather *1/2
Southern Weather was by far the biggest musical disappointment since The Pixies disbanded. With the lead single 'Say This Sooner' being an incredible song, it was predicted that this would be an at least average album. But The Almosts debut album, Southern Weather doesn't even fair that well.
Being religious is something I have no problem with, but preaching hell fire and brimstone is another thing. Many of the tracks on Southern Weather come across this way. The tracks that do not feel that way come across as cheesy, which I'm sure is not what you aim to do when you give praise to the lord. In their 'praise' they seem to be lost in desperation and singing with out meaning let alone feeling. All the biblical references seem trite and fail to evoke any emotion in the listener.
The musicianship is at times quite good, especially for the genre. While in others it is unimpressive.
'Say This Sooner' is the only thing saving Southern Weather from getting just a plain one star review. This is not worth the price or even the time.

In a few simple words I can explain this album. If you are a fan of Underoath. Then you will love this cd. The Almost has everything underoath has to offer except for the hardcore screaming and "heavier" guitar riffs. But the melodies and style of play is VERY similar. So if I were you, and your an Underoath fan, buy this album because you will love it.Free Music Review: wonderful

Aaron Gillespie is one talented young man. Having been and currently being the drummer and singer for super hardcore Christian band, Underoath, Aaron shows how he does solo. He plays all the instruments on nearly the entire Almost debut record. Talent and skill at writing great positive alternative rock...not superhardcore underoath type stuff, but definately not soft rock either. Somewhere perfectly in between. The songs on this cd were uplifting. Please aquaint yourself with this band. My 15 year old daughter loves this cd and at 15 you never like the same music as your mother. (gasp) a great buy for years to come because you will still be listening to it.
