Free Music Notes for The Art of the Prima DonnaFree Music Review: A Beautiful Remastering of A Beautiful Classic Recording Hit: 5 StarsThis recording has long been cherished as a standard in classical music. I have the Analogue to Digial Remaster (ADRM) CD set issued in 1989 of this and just compared it with the new ADD 24-bit digital stereo remastering from the original analogue mastertapes, and the sound enhancement is fantastic! I would strongly recommend this recording to everyone, even those that already have the 1989 issue. You won't be disappointed!
Free Music Review: ***********WOW************* Hit: 5 StarsJoan Sutherland brings back the golden age with singing that has never been matched ever since she recorded these gems over 40 years ago. She and Callas remains the Queens of opera.
Free Music Review: The very best...period Hit: 5 StarsJoan Sutherland has accomplished the most stupendous display of pyrotechnical display I've ever heard...this is stupendous...spectacular. No one in memory can match this...certainly not in shere beauty of timbre and mind boggling display of coloratura flights of unbelievable technical perfection. This is Sutherland in her prime...1960...and no one in operatic history even comes within a million miles of this...This must be heard to understand why she remains the standard to which all bel canto must be matched...THE most phenomenal voice in the history of mankind...she is the Queen of bel canto...Prima Donna Assoluta.......with trills that will shame a flute, and high notes that outshines a trumpet...
Free Music Review: La Stupenda brings back the golden age of singing Hit: 5 StarsI'm speechless. There is nothing out there that even remotely approach this in virtuosity of singing, including all of Sutherland's other cds. La Stupenda remains the greatest coloratura soprano of all time. You really have to purchase this collection to know why she called the voice of the century by her countless adoring fans. She sings here all the most difficult coloratura arias, her trill is lightning fast, her notes up to F above high C is gigantic and gives goose bumps. I don't think anyone in recording history can compare with Sutherland's accomplishments here, recorded in 1960 when her voice was girlish and fresh, and long before she attained some of her droopy sounds 20 years later. If there just one recital you must have, it's this one.
Free Music Review: a Must Hit: 5 StarsThis is one of the best recordings I've ever heard. Joan Sutherland's voice is very beautiful and clear. We can ENJOY the wonderful sound and voice of Joan Sutherland. Whenever I heard this disc, I think there is something special in Joan's voice. Compared with Callas' voice, Sutherland's voice lacks dramatic ability. But who cares? Sutherland's voice is beautiful. And this is one of the discs we can enjoy. I think this album is very enjoyable for even non-opera fan. ENJOY!
