Free Music Notes for FunplexFree Music Review: Zero Stars? Hit: 1 StarsFunplex by The B-52's is worse than annoying, it's unbearable torture. I don't remember them very fondly from the 80's when their overhyped sound was receiving airplay, by bribery no doubt, all over the airwaves and MTV. Thankfully they disappeared for 16 years but come back here, lured by the "touring incentive", playing parks to overweight 80's kids wearing lobster hats, and they sound just as idiotic, immature and boorish as they did back then.
The fans that buy this stuff probably still visit malls, theme parks and read Anne Rice books. I have little respect for music that is so insipidly dumb that it gives cretins a purpose. After listening to this for a whole day, as it was a gift, I felt like hanging myself. The male singer sounds like a broken record or a drowning cat. The women are no better, they sound like fops from the 50's, complete with the gritty, whining voice. This is an insult to music and to basic intelligence. With such serious issues plaguing the world, anyone who listens to rubbish like this must be living in some bubble of denial.
Be very critical of the 5 star positive reviews, as most of them were written by fan club members who have been flooding the board and voting against critical reviews.
Free Music Review: I cannot believe how good this disc is! Hit: 4 StarsI always liked the B-52's but thought of them as just a fun band with some good songs and some darned weak ones, so I found this to disc to be beyond a surprise. I figured they had spent all their 80's royalties and were going to piece together some lousy set of songs. Turns out they put out the most consistent disc of their career, and it is a heck of a lot of fun to boot.
Free Music Review: 2nd best B-52s album to only Cosmic Thing Hit: 5 StarsHalleleujah!!! The B-52s are back. There is not one weak song on this album. It is a stroke of genius. This album epitomizes everything great about the B-52s. The songs are so very well written and just slam full of hooks. It will be a damn shame if this one doesn't go platinum 2 times over. I would say more except for the fact that CD sales are going down. If radio has a clue this album will have 3-4 big hits on it. I was really skeptical as to whether or not 16 years away from recording would doom this to be a failed project. Luckily for B-52s fans it is an absolute triumphant return. Trust me on this one. BUY THIS RECORD. It's one of the best albums I've bought in a long time. Perfect album for the spring and summer. It won't leave your CD player.
Free Music Review: its a pleasure Hit: 5 Starsto have them back and stronger than ever. Funplex is everything you could want out of a group that's been gone so long from the music scene. It just happens to be that the B-52s are still popular and despite that. I can't lie with this release they show exactly what it means to make a fun, lively and exciting record that makes you want to dance regardless of what is going on. It's a group contribution as all are involved in the writing and production aspects of the album and virtually all members singing leads on all songs. It adds more variety and depth to a record that was already a blast to listen to from the beginning.
Welcome back folks, Funplex is a party just waiting to be heard and enjoyed by as many people as possible. Songs on the cd that can't get enough of are: Pump, Hot Corner, Funplex, Love in the Year 3000, Too Much to Think About and Keep This Party... Easily something that should get much praise and recognition from the critics but even if that doesnt happen. The B-52's are back and that's what matters most to me, the music.
Free Music Review: Never really cared this band...until now! Hit: 5 StarsI've never been a big fan of this band. But this album is very well done both in music and lyrics. It's just pure pop fun done in a smart way. A lot better than a lot of stuff out there now. Well done boys and girls.
