Free Music Review: Funplex is very fun!

This is one of the best albums The b-52's have ever done! I know, I know the older b-52's music sometimes can be a little off the wall, but good, but this album and Cosmic Things are probably the two best albums they have ever done. I mean to say ALL the songs on Cosmic Things and Funplex are good, both entire albums. Song after song on Funplex is, well, Fun!
Good music, good lyrics (they continue to talk of love and the cosmic universe), the songs just want you to get up and dance jitterbug....
With Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson, two of THE BEST female harmonizers in the business, with their oozing, sexual, beautiful vocals, just what you to project above the Earth and into the universe and just have a good time. But the lyrics do talk about down-to-Earth goings on too; human interactions of love, politics, over-spending, dancing, sex, and just plainly having a good time. (Personally, when Kate and Cincy sing and I see how great they look, I would like to be on a deserted island with them) This is well worth buying. The music is great and the production is great. Buy it and have yourself a good ol' time. - Terry Chaffee

to have them back and stronger than ever. Funplex is everything you could want out of a group that's been gone so long from the music scene. It just happens to be that the B-52s are still popular and despite that. I can't lie with this release they show exactly what it means to make a fun, lively and exciting record that makes you want to dance regardless of what is going on. It's a group contribution as all are involved in the writing and production aspects of the album and virtually all members singing leads on all songs. It adds more variety and depth to a record that was already a blast to listen to from the beginning.
Welcome back folks, Funplex is a party just waiting to be heard and enjoyed by as many people as possible. Songs on the cd that can't get enough of are: Pump, Hot Corner, Funplex, Love in the Year 3000, Too Much to Think About and Keep This Party... Easily something that should get much praise and recognition from the critics but even if that doesnt happen. The B-52's are back and that's what matters most to me, the music.
Free Music Review: Hotter, and Hotter!!

The B-52'2 have been out for years with groups like Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, Duran Duran, R.E.M. and these great groups keep coming out with more and more albums to beat the top music times of the day.. and each album they are hitting beyond and beyond the current year. Their styles and energy in their music show the futursitic edge such as beyond car design.. and they will always be unique!! That's why I keep continuing to buy their albums, they are inspiration and fresh energy for me.
"Funplex" is quite impressive. Still surfing type of music and great stylistic tunes you can easily get into the groove to. Every song on this album is great to listen to!!!!! It reminds me alot of New Order's album 2001's "Get Ready" which is hot. When I got "Funplex" and keep listening to it I want to kiss this group so bad... because really they are outstanding and they definitely aren't getting old but hotter and hotter!!
Buy this album if you loved "Cosmic Thing" and "Good Stuff". But this album in my opinion is truly their ultimate statement!!!!!!!!
Free Music Review: WONDERFUL, SEXY & FUN!!

The album starts off with the words "When I look at you I am ready to pump" and the sexuality floats in and out of every song afterwords.
This is a WONDERFUL album- not a false note anywhere. If the B-52s can produce this kind of quality 16 years later then they are certainly going to be around for a very long time!
I bought this CD on Amazon weeks ago and it still resides on my player. I have played it every day and it just gets better and better.
From the opener "Pump" it just grabs you and won't let go until the last cut "Keep this Party Going" ends. Kudos to the girls for the marvelous "Juliet of the Spirits".
I want to list out every track and give its strengths but honestly there's nothing sub par here at all. The singing, the song writing, the playing and the production are all just fabulous. Thank you Kate, Fred, Keith and Cindy!
I saw you live the month "Rock Lobster" came out and was amazed. And now all these years later I still am.
As a final note I should also mention that the CD packaging is very cool too!!

I'm not a B-52 fanatic, but I've been hooked since 1989's "Cosmic Thing."
Time sure does slip by and it's hard to believe it's been 16 years since their last studio album (a generation, indeed - long enough to be forgotten in the ever fickle music business), but Fred, Kate, Cindy, and Keith have proven they can keep up with the times - and do it better than anyone half their ages.
One thing I wasn't crazy about was the heavy use of electronica throughout the album, but, unfortunately, that's the trend in pop music today. The group was able to use this type of "music" to their advantage, though, and the strength of Cindy's and Kate's vocals erase my annoyance at the electronica.
I don't know why, but I haven't been able to get enough of "Juliet of the Spirits" (tribute to Fellini?). I also dig the title track and the video for it.
The B-52's still look and sound at the top of their game. Let's just hope we don't have to wait another decade and a half for their next album. - Donna Di Giacomo
