Thank goodness they are back!!! This cd is strong across the board--great dance music (but many songs have an unmistakeable rock guitar edge to them), solid vocals--you name it, this cd has it. It seems weird to me that the B52's have been sort of out of commission lately, because they sound in absolute top form on this cd. All of the tracks are fun to listen to--this is one cd that you won't skip around to find the one or two decent songs. The B52's have somehow managed to stay true to their unique style, while presenting us with a relevant and current sound. Buy this one--it's not a waste of money. Pop it in the car player, let the top down, crank up the volume - it's summer music at its unadulterated best! An impulsive smile-making sensation from start to finish, a viscous condensed shot of killer purple psychedelic sunshine. If you like the B-52's you'll likely love the aptly-named Funplex.
I'm not a B-52's purist or a rabid fan but I do have all their others and do enjoy their music quite a bit, but Funplex is my favorite so far. If you don't like B-52's, you won't like this one. It's their classic sound: wonderfully difficult minor harmonies, peppy, hoppy, dancey music, accentuated by Fred Schneider's charming oddness.

Free Music Review: May Be My 2nd-Fave B52s Album Ever

Wow, this new CD doesn't disappoint! What I like best is the emphasis on some real guitar grooves; one of my very favorite B52s songs is "52 Girls," and many of these new tunes have that same kind of mojo. The first five songs are excellent, the sixth takes a dip (the music's not as polished and coherenet; Fred sounds awful), and then the last five are pretty good, almost as good as the first five. This could turn out to be my favorite B52s album next to the very first one! It's WAY better than I expected for a band out of commission for 16 years, the individual members of which must be almost 50 years old (and looking fairly plastic-surgeried on the album art).Free Music Review: KEEP THE PARTY GOING!

"FUNPLEX" is the SUPREME culmination of 34 years of party perfection. "FUNPLEX" is the icing on the cake!!! Every track is a blast! Pump will literally pump you into a frenzy of happiness! Futuristic love, lyrics and hooks make this my FAVORITE 52's album yet! This band is so groovy they even pressed a "LIMITED EDITION LP" of this album...YES...12"VINYL! AND IT ROCKS! After a 16 year hiatus the WILDEST band on the planet gives us a reason to "KEEP THE PARTY GOING"!
