Free Music Review: Excellent!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been listening to this CD for about 3 weeks and I love almost every song. 16 years was a long time but well worth the wait.

Free Music Review: B-52 Funplex "Bombs Away"
Hit: 4 Stars

This album is very entertaining and rings with great dance beats, solid song writing and excellent production. Songs are typical B-52 tunes combining a blend of sexually pumped lyrics with good, guitar driven melodies. Production qualities are excellent...the band is in very good voice.

Free Music Review: FUN FUN STUFF!!!!!
Hit: 4 Stars

When I heard The B-52's were putting out a new album,I knew it had to be fun and spunky...It doesn't fall short at all.Pump starts the album off strong.Ultraviolet,Juliet of The Spirits,Funplex,Too Much To Think About,Keep This Party Going highlight this fun trip.If you are a B-52's fan, there is absolutely no reason not to buy this effort. It is smart and fun. The group hasn't lost a step and sound stronger than ever.Almost as if they have continously put albums out every 3 or so years.A solid 4.5 for fun and smart poppy fun...

Free Music Review: Good Stuff
Hit: 4 Stars

While I can't say I was holding my breadth waiting for a new B-52s release, I can tell you I was really interested to hear this CD. I'm not sure whether I should be surprised or not, but it sounds a lot like you'd think it would: whether it's 2008 or 1998, this is definitely a natural successor to Good Stuff. Fun party beats, slick musicianship by the underrated Keith Strickland, and a series of fast-paced dancefloor-ready songs.

The B-52s are and always will be the B-52s. Fred Schneider is a goof ball who basically sings the same part in every song. (I keep feeling like he'll shout out "Good stuff baby!" or "Is that you Moe Dean!" or "Hot Pants flair up!" at any given moment). He's the big personality and hype-man of the group, and the group couldn't do without his presence. Yet, as on "Roam" from Cosmic Thing and "Revolution Earth" from Good Stuff, the group really shines when he gets out of the way, which occurs on "Juliet of the Spirits," a standout song in which Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson give another fine vocal performance. Some other songs of note are the title track and "Eyes Wide Open," but it's a strong album throughout.

Nothing here reaches the heights of "Love Shack" or "Roam" or "Channel Z," but everything here gets the job done. The B-52s have always sounded a little out of time, having a lot to do with their obsession with monster movies and bee-hive hairdos, but also because they've never, ever been afraid of having FUN. Bottom line: this album is fun.

Free Music Review: Funplex indeed!
Hit: 4 Stars

These guys and gals haven't lost a step despite the years of inactivity. The girls' harmonies and Fred Schneider's loopy shouting that passes for singing still sound great over danceable beats. This album is one you can put on at a party and let it play. Has anyone less talented than Fred every been a mainstay of a popular band? Yet it works.
