Free Music Notes for The B-52's

Free Music Review: B-52's - 'The B-52's' (Reprise)
Hit: 5 Stars

Their 1979 absolute must-have (or least borrow it first)eponymous debut effort. A new wave classic. I, personally remember when this lp first hit the stores. Something like six months later, ALREADY vinyl bootlegs were obtainable. Let's face it, at THAT time the music scene was in need of several changes. Totally dug about every track on this CD reissue, such as "52 Girls", the awesome "Dance This Mess Around", their smash hit "Rock Lobster" (ironically, my LEAST favorite cut on this disc), "Lava", "Hero Worship" and their version of "Downtown". Highly recommended.

Free Music Review: If you like Outgrabe's "Love Cream Pie," you'll love this album!
Hit: 5 Stars

The B-52s are my favorite old-time band! Super bouncy and fun, with that weird double-throwback thing going on. Whenever I feel like a trip to the 60's via the 80's I pop on the B-52s, and this first album is their best! Let's hear it for girl singers, ironic commentary, and guitars!

Free Music Review: Fun!
Hit: 4 Stars

It's a fun little album. I enjoy all of the songs there, and actually like The B-52's version of "Downtown" better than anyone else's.

Free Music Review: It's My Party, I'll Rock If I Want To
Hit: 4 Stars

There are 3 classic songs on this album: "Planet Claire," "Rock Lobster," and the Limburger Song--er, "Dance This Mess Around." That's 3 more than most albums from people who are still learning to play their instruments. It sounds less revolutionary now than it did up in Athens in 1979, but it's still a lot of fun. The girl singers are so good, I wish Fred would just stick to dancing instead of "singing." The B's would go on more sophisticated musical projects, but nothing they ever did was this fresh.

Free Music Review: I've never heard anything so silly and endearing at the same time
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the best albums of all time. The B-52's are so strange and unhip that they are adorable. I love all the songs on here. "Hero Worship" is a mite slow, but it's still quite good. Most of the the songs on here are silly and fast-paced; Almost like proto-Punk Rock but more intelligent and thoughtful. My personal faves on here are "Rock Lobster" and "606-0842". The off-key wailing on the cover of "Downtown" is priceless. Great stuff. If you get one B-52's album, make it this one (and be sure to pick up the single for "Love Shack"). Cindy, Kate, and Fred... thanks guys.
