Free Music Review: We love the Backyardigans!
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is great!! First thing my 3 yr old says when we get in the van is
"can you put our kids music on?"!

Free Music Review: Great Family CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

We have the previous Backyardigans CD and were happy to see Groove to the Music while shopping recently.

I bought it for my son who has dozens of CDs--and I knew he'd like it...but I didn't realize how much! In the first few days, he listened to Groove to the Music several times a day! And, he still brings it out to listen to on his headphones at least ONCE a day.

The great thing about the Backyardigans CDs is that, in additon to being child-friendly, it's PARENT friendly. Unlike other repetitive, irritating, mind-numbing kid CD's, these songs are fresh, well-sung, and downright hilarious. And I LOVE the fact that introduces children to a wide variety of music styles!

And I admit it--I enjoy this CD as much as the previous one. From the jaunty We're Going to Mars to the ska-inspired Rad Moves--all the way to the disco-ish Shake Your Body to the Celtic-flavored Tree to Tree--Groove to the Music will keep your child--and you!--humming for hours. (Warning: these songs will get stuck in your head! But the good news is that these songs are catchy and fun rather than insipid and irritating.)

Enjoy!

Free Music Review: AWESOME MUSIC

Free Music Review: Got kids and like music? You want this CD!!!

Ditto to the other review questioning whether the Amazon reviewer had really watched the show enough. (As a minor point, "I Love Being a Princess" is sung by Tasha; Uniqua plays the Sphinx in that episode and her character would never utter those words. In any episode.) The voice talents (and I do mean TALENTS) are kids, and the adventures are certainly geared toward younger ones with active imaginations, but this is great music! If you are familiar with the characters and songs, it is easy to "accidentally" leave the CD on and sing away long after the kids have wandered out of the room or fallen asleep on a car trip. The music is written to be enjoyed on its own, not just background fluff. The composer, offbeat jazz dude Evan Lurie (of The Lounge Lizards), is galaxies away from dumbing down the music for kids. Heck, I strongly suspect that some of the musical influences and ideas are lost on plenty of grown-ups. And regardless of the genre that each episode's musical theme is pulled from, be it polka, swing, disco, bossa nova, late 70s New York rock, or whatever, it is all done with care and with authenticity.

So glad we have this CD! And the first one is great too! Plus the lyrics and show can be pretty funny.

Free Music Review: My son loves this
Hit: 5 Stars

My 6 yr old son loves this cd...and so do I! It's not the ordinary music of today which I have to worry about him hearing and repeating since the messages in the music are great...working together, not giving up, etc. And the music is so eclectic that I don't get bored either.
