Free Music Review: A Great Cpmpilation CD

There are lots of reasons to buy this 2 disc set...1) it has some of the best songs from each CD on it, 2) it has Footloose and Boogie which aren't on any other CDs, 3) it captures some of the energy you experience when they play live, and most importantly 5) it has the extended version of Grace. Grace is one of my all time favorite songs and I had seen them do it live (with the extra verse) so I was surprised when Can't Complain came out and the extra verse wasn't there. I think it was added after the CD had been recorded...so I'm really glad they included it on the Live CD. If you are only going to buy one Bacon Brothers CD I recommend this one because it has songs from the other three. But my hunch is that you will get this and then want more. Like many people, when I first went to see the Bacon Brothers perform it was because Kevin was in the band and I had been a fan for years. And then they started to play and I was blown away by the music. Michael has a great voice, is an amazing musician and I love it when he plays the cello. Not only is Kevin a very powerful song writer he also sings (he has a great voice, too) plays guitar, percussion, harmonica, and really puts his all into each show. And the band is amazing!! Frank, Ira, Paul and Charlie...are all incredibly talented and fun to watch. On this CD (and the DVD) they went a little more formal than most of their shows. They have back-up singers and strings...so it has a slightly different feel, but the energy is still great.
