Free Music Notes for Sounds of Summer: Very Best of The Beach Boys

Free Music Review: Keep your sunny disposition
Hit: 5 Stars

Ahhhhhhhh...Sounds Of Summer...The Very Best Of The Beach Boys...

This 30-track CD is outstanding. It contains virtually all of the big hits of The Beach Boys. If you're looking for just a "greatest hits" type of album by this band, then this is the album for you. Loaded with classics from the '60s and beyond, this CD will help you stay upbeat and think about fun, sun, beaches, surfing, convertibles, drive-ins, starry nights, everything that is summer. Not to mention a simpler, safer, more innocent and more prosperous period of time in history - a direct contrast to today's world.

Some of the big hits on this collection are "California Girls", "I Get Around", "Fun, Fun, Fun" (my personal favorite), "Good Vibrations", "Surfin' U.S.A.", "Surfin' Safari", "Surfer Girl", "In My Room", "Barbara Ann", "Sloop John B", "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "Kokomo" and many others.

If you want to get into the summer frame of mind and keep your sunny disposition, then this collection is your fuel. Highly recommended.

Free Music Review: A Super Collection on a Single Disc
Hit: 5 Stars

Too many mono songs? Another redundant collection? Hmmmm. I guess I don't care.

I just wanted to freshen up my hodpodge of vinyl and audio cassettes with a good comprehensive single source on CD. I made a list of MUST HAVE Beach Boys tunes. And . . . I found that this was the ONLY compilation that had every one on my list (except Spirit of America). And on a single disc (convenient) carrying 30 songs. All of their most popular hits and even a couple of great covers (I love "Come Go With Me).

I think the audio quality is fine and some of the remastering work gives a fresh listening experience to familiar tunes. (Heck, I first fell in love with most of these songs listening to them on a transistor radio with a single 3" paper cone speaker). The liner notes are also nicely done . . . some photos, band history, and a little data summary on each tune. Informative and interesting. This is an outstanding anthology of Beach Boys best and can be had at a very reasonable price.

Free Music Review: JUST SO MUCH FUN
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a collection that just makes me grin every time I hear it. It shows you the awesome library of pop that this great harmony group has written. The best compilation of the Beach Boys ever. Runs the whole library from the beginning to the Brother period. You can see how their sound eveolves into the 80's adult sounds. There audience did grow up, you know. I loved getting the "Darlin'.". "Wild Honey: period. What a bonus. I could never find these great songs anywhere. The songs are remixed in stereo and also the mono versions of certain songs. If they ever come out with an all remixed disc, I'll be the first one on line. "California Girls", which starts the disc has a sound that is so awesome that if play it loud it sounds otherworldly. If you don't know the Beach Boys, this is a fabulous introduction. If you're a fan, it will put a smile back on your face and will put you back in the surf. Also Kokomo is just awesome. Think I'll take a trip to Bermuda.

Free Music Review: It's worth it
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a music lover, I love spending some of my free time listening to classic music, like the music of 50's, 60's and 70's. One of my favorite compilations of classical songs is sung by the "Beach Boys" one of my all time favorite band.
When the "Sounds of summer" was out in the Market, I immediately purchase some copies for my own and for my friend who has been an avid fan of The Beach Boys. And well, I am really happy as the majority of the featured music in the album is so great. It was really what I expected! And some of the great hits they featured in the album are God Only Knows, Wouldn't It Be Nice, Don't Worry Baby, and a lot more. If you still haven't heard the songs, go, buy and listen to it now! I might sound very demanding but honestly, it's worth your time... Honest!
I hope everyone will purchase the Beach boys album, as they are really great! Really worth your money!

Free Music Review: The Beach Boys Are Cool.
Hit: 5 Stars

I don't think there is a single American child over the age of three that hasn't heard a Beach Boys song. They are still a significant part of our culture and a glimpse into the teen culture of our past (which isn't that different from today's). People loved them and still love them, that's why they are, perhaps, the greatest American band of all time. I don't think I can say that about many other artists, only R.E.M. and Talking Heads come to mind.

The compilation contains thirty of their Top 40 hits and spans their entire career. If you're already a fan, you know all the songs and hold them dear to your heart. If you're a new fan, this is a great CD for you to begin your Beach Boys experience. There are a few splendid stereo mixes of songs that were only found in mono or poor stereo versions. "Heroes and Villians" is a major highlight, as well as "Good Vibrations."
