Free Music Notes for Sounds of Summer: Very Best of The Beach BoysFree Music Review: AHHH! the good ol' days! Hit: 5 Stars
A much simpler time! America was strong, both physical and financial, nobody messed with the USA in those days, they knew better. We had real Presidents who made all the right decisions, and didn't talk to our enemies,or try to talk their way out of a fight! real men for real times! And we all had time to party and have fun! I sure miss those days where we could all sleep well at night, and made more money than it cost to live. AHHH the good ol' days, back then credit meant you didn't know how to manage your money, and were considered a bum if you had to charge something. Real men paid cash on the barrel head! You didn't owe jack to no one!And if you couldn't afford it, you did without like responsible adults! This cd will bring back those bygone days to refresh your memory of what made America great! Nothin like good vibrations to jog the mind back to reality. Thanks amazon!
Free Music Review: The whole Beach Boy experience Hit: 5 Stars
If you remember that brief period between the 1950's greasy hair music and the Beatles, there was a brief window where the Beach Boys, the Everly Brothers, and other American acts prevailed. After the 1964 Brit invasion, most of the groups that depended upon harmony melted away in the tidal wave of rock, but the Beach Boys soldiered on, actually getting better.
All the great songs are in this collection; see the attached list for your favorites.
Sometimes we forget that our favorite songs were not about great moments in history, or questions for the cosmos, but rather, is my car faster than yours, will that woman deign to go out with me, will I grow up finally and be a man? Yet, the songs here and throughout rock deal with the smaller issues, which, when you think about it, ARE more important to our actual lives than any pondering of the universe.
Free Music Review: But Am I Getting Senile? Hit: 5 Stars
Over the years as the Beach Boys faded from the top of the charts and before "Kokomo", I would see a "new" Beach Boys album, check it out and it had virtually the same songs (mostly hits) as the previous Beach Boys compilation. What's with that? Here we have another. If you don't have one (or several) of the original albums or compilations, I heartily recommend this package to you. I don't ask for inspired album cuts from "Pet Sounds" or other albums. This is all you really need unless you have endless hours to listen. (If you do, there's enough BB music to sate your obsession). There's plenty of good music and memories for many of us. This compilation will do very nicely, thank you, until the next one comes along. (Check back next week).
Free Music Review: Oh So Comprehensive Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great collection of Beach Boys songs. So many great classics ranging from California Girls to Help Me Rhonda to God Only Knows to Kokomo and much more. Fast or slow these Beach Boy harmonies sound true to my ears.
There are a few songs not on here such as Little Saint Nick, Wendy, Sail On Sailor, and You're So Good To Me that possibly should be included instead of some of the lesser tunes. However, this is a minor oversight.
In contrast to the previous reviewer, this CD sounds great regardless of whether the tracks are mono or stereo recorded. Its too bad the previous reviewer failed to be more specific. There are so many great songs not on Pet Sounds how can you not buy this collection.
Free Music Review: The best music to ever come out of California Hit: 5 Stars
I grew up on the Beach Boy's music, and in my opinion there has been nothing better to come out of California since them. For kids these days who insist on avoiding classical, I don't know if there could possibly be a better option for them. It expresses a good spirit and sentiment, friends living by the ocean, nice cars, fun, love, surfing, relaxation. But long gone are the days of the Beach Boys: R.I.P. California - You were once the best, and now you have sunk to the bottom. As much fun as you and I have had in the past, I would rather be in a desert than this. Though I must leave you now, you'll always have a place in my heart, a memory of the golden days when life was untainted and all about innocent fun.
