The Beach Boys broke the mold during a time when teens were trying to find their own music, and they were fresh and FUN-FUN-FUN. This Cd is a wonderful blend of Beach Boys songs. In true Beach Boy fashion their harmony is "soulful" and they use their vocals like musical instruments. Brian and Mike are certainly talented composers as well as vocalists, but all of the guys (Brian, Mike, Al, Carl, and Dennis) make the Beach Boy sound that I can get lost in.Free Music Review: The Beach Boys Are The Best

and, loving this album, was going to buy the new remastered ones as the sound quality on the '90 release is not that great but then I read the review by Music Fan from SanFrancisco and learned the quality is only marginally better so will not buy it and hope someday for a remixed version.....I think the boxed set has a better sound but doesn't have all the great songs here....certainly a precursor to PetSounds...just full of many beautiful songs.Free Music Review: True Perfection By Brian Wilson and The Boys In 1965

Beach Boys Today is an excellent combination of harmonies,lyrics,and sounds It contains a unique version of Help Me Rhonda on Acoustic Guitar and Harmonica as well as Do You wanna Dance featuring Dennis Wilson on lead vocal. Summer days contains the same combination and it has a song called Your Dreams Come true as well as the hits Help Me Rhonda and California Girls. Many people in 1966 thought that "Pet Sounds" was some kind of departure from Brian Wilson's previous work. That's because they didn't listen to these two albums, particularly "Today!" closely enough. Side two of that album (in the original vinyl) was, for those who sought it, a clear indication of Brian's thinking and a signpost for what was to come.Free Music Review: Side 2 of Today is a Masterpiece and so is I'm Bugged at my Old Man

Side 2 of Today is equal to Pet Sounds for quality and songwriting.
Summer Days is fun and the last blast at surf/amusement park stuff, I'm Bugged at my Old Man is worth the price of admission, you have to hear it to believe it. Also contains the great "Let Him Run Wild" that for some odd reason didn't make it onto the Box Set "Good Vibrations", so a BB fan will need this CD.
