Free Music Review: I used to hate the Beastie Boys until I gave them a chance..
Hit: 5 Stars

Okay, I used to hate the Beastie Boys for the longest time, they were whiners and complained a lot at least that's what I thought. I'll tell you a story: I had a Tibetan kid in one of my classes and one day he brought a walkman to school. I asked what he was listening to , and he said the Beastie Boys. I knew they were all for free tibet and all, but I just didn't care for their music(I hadn't really heard them, besides when I'd hear them on the radio, I wouldn't even give them a chance). He said that I should buy at least one Beastie Boys cd because they donated some of the money to the free tibet cause, I believe in a free tibet and I knew it was important to him, so I bought this cd and it's really great! I usually listen to oi!, punk, and ska but the layers and beats of this album were awesome! The beastie boys are good music with a purpose, and I wish I had gone to a free tibet show. So, if you like old school hip-hop, jazz, bossa nova, hardcore punk, or just plain good music pick this up and help FREE TIBET!

Free Music Review: Great, but still a few hits missing
Hit: 4 Stars

While this CD does have a large collection of great tracks, b-sides and unreleased tracks on it, there were a couple of songs that were missing from it. I always loved the Beastie Boys, I think they are true pioneers in the art of music. Some people would probably just listen to their favorite tracks, but if you take a listen you will find some gems on this track, such as the Fatboy Slim remix of Body Movin', the really great track with Q-Tip, and the awesome Jimmy James with the Jimi Hendrix sample. Take some time with this CD, and you will be rewarded with a great collection of a great musical group.

Free Music Review: awesome cd but lacking a few songs
Hit: 4 Stars

This cd has many of the beastie boys great songs but i was dissapointed when a few songs such as girls, no sleep till brooklyn and time to get ill. But this definatly shows the beastie boys growth and change thoughtout their awesome career of punk to hip hop.

Free Music Review: Beastie Boys
Hit: 1 Stars

First, The Beastie boys shouldn't even be a band. I'm not sure why they even are trying to make this album alright. I embarass myself listening to this cd around people. all they do is shout like a bunch of fools and nobody understands a word they are saying. Don't waste your time or money on this or any of their cd's. Stick to Ice Cube baby.

Free Music Review: To This I Owe Much Thanks
Hit: 3 Stars

After hearing the funked out Intergalactic, which was a rage at a time or something (not that I can't stand it), and with an Anthology on the horizon, I couldn't wait to be introduced. And that, The Sounds of Science, did.

Without it, I don't suppose I would have gotten into the Beasties, AND I'm very glad I did. Looking back, this doesn't include the wisest options for a compilation: Too many short hardcore pieces, IE Beastie Boys and Egg Raid. When it comes to introducing ya, it should get you hungry for more. I haven't quite mastered deciding what your first album of theirs should be, but my definite favorite is Paul's Boutique. Once you've got PB, and say, Ill Communication, you won't have much use for the Anthology, especially if you plan on expanding to even more CDs.

If you don't already have it, you might look into getting the Alive singles. That is an excellent track.
