Free Music Notes for 1962-1966 (The Red Album)

Free Music Review: Hoodwinked.
Hit: 3 Stars

This is a ripoff. I've copied both my CD and LP versions onto one CD. There is no reason this should cost 30 some bucks.

The remastering of "I Feel Fine" is cleaned up and, sadly, has lost its original character. If you have the original LP, keep it.

Free Music Review: The best CD to cheer you up!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is great just to listen to on the road. It has some of the beatles greatest songs ever. If your really board just listen to this it will cheer you right up!!By this CD today!

Free Music Review: The Greatest Band of all-time
Hit: 5 Stars

I noticed some reviewers here are moaning that EMI aren't making this a singles disc. After all, put all the tracks on one cd, rather than 2 and the CD will be half price right? WRONG!
Bear in mind that whether this is 1 CD or 2 CD's the number of tracks will be the same therefore the same amount of royalties will still have to be paid for. The only savings that will be made will be in the casing and if you want to cut out the artwork and make it more simple, the result would be about a 10p saving for the record buyers and a less attractive looking package. So, to all the moaners, please LET IT BE and accept the fact this album is going to cost more than other CD's regardless if it's a double disc, or on a less spectacular packaged single disc.
Ok, now into the musical content.
The Beatles are quite simply music's greatest. No other band before or since can live up to them. The only pop-rock act that rivalled what they did was Elvis before them and the only music to remain as famous is that of classical composers such as Bach and Beethoven.
However, back in 1962, this was all yet to come and if you told someone that The Beatles would be more popular in 2005 than they were in 1962, they'd think you were crazy!
The Beatles first hit in the UK (after scoring success on the touring circuit in Germany & backing rocker Tony Sheridan on some of his early records) was "Love Me do", a song in the vein of county-pop duo's such as The Loovin Brothers and/or The Everly Brothers.
This of course was the 1st of many, many hit's the world over and by mid-1964 The Beatles had cracked American and sold more than 40 million records, this of course, was just the very, very beginning.
But why after 40odd years is Beatlemania still about. The Legacy and the music still live on. Noone could answer than question in the 1960s and noone can now. The Beatles were jus one-offs, a collective group with great advisers (Brian Epstien, Neil Aspanall...) and a great producer (George Martin), with a good drummer (Ringo Starr), a fab lead guitarist (George Harrison) and fronted by two geniuses of song (The hugely talented Paul McCartney and fellow songwriter & the founder of the group John Lennon).
A combination of all people involved working together, the influences of fine music before them and their own magic talent and the public appreciation (or in some cases, protest) made Beatlemania what it is and what it continues to be. With each new generation comes a new generation of Beatles fans.
All this (& more) is captured on this CD set and it's sister collection "The Beatles 1967-1970".

Free Music Review: CHILDISH, POP MUSIC
Hit: 2 Stars

The opitomy (spelling??) of how stupid this album is as a whole is the one song "Paperback Writer". The rest of the songs make even less sense, except for maybe a few, or they sound like rehashings of songs already on this Cd; "Hard Day's Night", "Eight Days a Week" and "Can't Buy me Love" are the kinds of songs even a kareoke singer could have made a living off of if they knew how to write a basic song AND they all sound the same. The rest of the songs are just plain too darn easy to overlook 'cause they're STUPID!!!
If I were to give The Beatles credit for being good songwriters I would use most of the songs from the companion to this CD - 1967-1970 - as examples.

Free Music Review: Get Backstreet Boys instead????
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of the biggest albums ever made. I am not a huge Beatles fan, I prefer Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons. But I must admit these guys were geniuses and their music put the base of what most people listen to nowadays. Simple and plain. That kid who recommended getting the Backstreet Boys instead, oh my God!!! I'll give him/her a recommendation back, go get Barney's music and videos instead of Backstreet Boys stuff. At least Barney looks less gay.
